Im having problems connecting the new stereo I have bought to my car. The speaker wires arnt a problem, it is the head unit power ones that are.

The stereo is a blaupunkt unit and uses the standard ISO plugs. The cars wiring harness has obviously been butchered to make it connect to the previous installation.

I have an ISO adapter that I am trying to connect to the existing wiring loom. That consists of 5 wires (on the head unit power plug)

The 1st is a black one which I know is ground.
The 2nd is a red one which I know is the ignition.
The 3rd is an orange one which I know is illumination.
The 4th is a blue one which I think supplies an automatic raising antenna with power.
The 5th is green and I know is for a constant 12v supply. It seems straight forward enough

The car side is a little more confusing. There are 8 wires.

The 1st is brown which I know is earth.
The 2nd is grey which supplies 12v when the ignition is on suggesting it is the ignition switched supply.
The 3rd is brown wire with a black stripe whcih supplies a constant 12v, meaning it must be the 12v constant.

The 4th is blue and doesnt seem to supply any voltage but it seems to have a small leak to earth (0.1v). I have no idea what it is for.

The 5th is a red wire with a white stripe which doesnt supply any voltage and is not grounded. Again, I have no idea for its use.

the 6th is a plain red wire which also doesnt supply a voltage or a ground connection. yet again no idea on use

the 7th is a black wire that yet again doesnt supply a voltage or a connection to earth. It appears to be related to the antenna but I dont have an electricaly raiseable one, it is built into the windscreen.

the 8th is the antenna signal cable.

I am completely stumped. I can connect the switched 12v and the earth but the screen on the head unit doesnt appear to show anything (it is unlit so it may just not be visable)

What wire on the car do I use to supply power to the 3rd wire on the ISO plug (illumination)?

I seem to have a lot of extra wires that dont seem to do anything or match up with ones on the ISO plug, Why?

Why does there seem to be a powered antenna wire and a powered antenna supply dispite the fact I dont have one?

There is of course the possibility of the head unit being duff but Im not confident enough of the wiring to entertain that idea.

If you need more information or detail just let me know (my description isnt great I know)

TIA :)

Its a few months since I did mine and the old memory isn't 100% but. The black wire that is with the aerial connector supplies the aerial amp and needs to be connected to the elecy aerial out on the radio.
The illumination lead on radios normally is connected to the side light circuit to DIM the panel when lights are on. It isn't req. to light the panel up. If you connect both 12Vs (perm & switched) and a decent ground then it should at least fire up.
