What was it on for? I’d have been sorely tempted just for giggles. I have an E53 X5, I fear no chocolate components since it blew it’s front differential apart in spectacular “this shouldn’t be outside the casing” fashion.
2.3k earth pounds. There was one which looked reasonable for about £1300 not so long ago...
Loosely speaking about opportunities to meet up - are there still plans for the ‘north’ gathering on 19th March at The Motorist?
Even further OT I priced up DFDS for the sailing to Newcastle-Amsterdam in July as I am thinking of a European jaunt with the family. Appreciate it’s peak season but not sure I was expecting almost thread entry point for the four of us for even the cheapest option. Now on the back burner I think.

Well no one has said it's not on so I'm assuming it is, Have you priced up the crossing from Hull to amsterdam? probably expensive too as it's peak but worth a look Even further OT I priced up DFDS for the sailing to Newcastle-Amsterdam in July as I am thinking of a European jaunt with the family. Thanks for the nice comments on the S80 guys! I'll take some more pics when the weather's good and if I figure out how to upload it, also a video of the engine sound. It sounds amazing on cold startup but does get really quiet once it gets up to temperature. I'll keep you guys updated on things happening with it, I don't think it's special enough to warrant a RR thread. It's essentially a V70 with a slightly larger engine.
It's a first facelift model, so the grill is different with a bigger logo and no V8 badge. I'm not sure whether to keep the V8 badge on the rear as it kinda takes away the sleeper element. The other change for the facelift is the addition of chrome trim around the front/sides, but that was already part of the executive trim level pre-facelift. Regarding the clock on the passenger side, it's a part of the executive trim as well. Also the entire "waterfall" center console is wood instead of just the small inlay next to the gear selector with the regular S80's/V70's. Options-wise it's got almost everything I need including radar cruise, DAB radio with the 650W Dynaudio system, heated, ventilated massage seats etc.
As for the people selling it: They were a father-son duo and they were really nice to deal with, both via phone and in real life. The father has worked for Volvo as a mechanic for 40+ years and the son grew up around Volvo's so there was a lot to talk about. They had some other nice Volvo's there as well, they seem to buy Volvo's with interesting spec/color combinations. The coffee was decent and the place looked clean and tidy as well. I inspected the car, tested all the features/electronics and did a test drive. The car drove spot on, everything seemed to be in order but there were a few parking damages plus 1 of the tyres was a ditch finder as it failed it's MOT that morning on a tyre bulge. They got it through the MOT on the spare wheel and the local garage only had a ditch finder in that size, the rest is Pirelli.
After the test drive I told him I'd seen the ad on eBay and what I thought of his asking price. He explained he was expecting the car would be with them for a while and they were planning on making it very tidy - they had already swapped out the grill due to the logo being faded and had ordered some replacement badges - the price of 7600 was based on the car in near-perfect state. I made him an offer to take the car in the current condition, so with 2 parking dents and a ditch finder. I had to motivate him a bit but he did agree on my price (which makes me wonder if I should've gone lower ). After that it was the usual paperwork, insurance, tax etc.
To-do next is replacing the one ditch finder with the correct tyre, I've already spotted some on eBay. Also I'm looking for a way to get music from my phone over Bluetooth to the built in audio system with the possibility of using the steering wheel controls. And then there's the parking ding, my neighbour spotted it straight away so it's got to go

Have we had this beauty yet?

Very detailed advert from a private seller, with a great (in my opinion) colour combo.
Can’t check the MOT history due to numberplate being hidden, but seems to have had a fair bit spent on it.
Benefits from the 4.8 V8, LPG conversion and a panoramic roof.
Seems well priced compared to others

Even if it's just a few pictures and a quick write-up to go with it, an RR thread would be a good investment.AdrieBiemans said:

I feel like both of you have done well - they've made a few quid for a reasonably small outlay of time and energy, you've got a good barge with a fresh ticket.Phil Dicky said:
The saloon doesn't seem to find much favour; to my recollection, there aren't any thread vehicles and haven't been for a while. The closest is skullandbiscuits with his full fat E55. IgnitionMS said:

Beautiful colour combo indeed plus the 4.8 V8 and pan roof sound great but the other things listed in the ad would put me off (cat, sat nav, sensors) as would the LPG conversion unless it's got receipts from a well known garage.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202201271...

It has no MoT, partial history and a number of faults which may or may not be £££ to fix. Looks expensive based on that TBH.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202201271...
