A question for the owners, with the impending launch of yet another new car at the motorshow, do we really need another model of TVR or should they focus their effots on sorting out the well known problems on the Tuscan and Tamora?

For instance my Tuscan has just come back form it's first annual service at which I noted the shift lights blink at random, any revs, and the door mirrors occasionaly will only go down whatever button you press.

Small niggles I agree, but the answer on these points was, "yes the factory know about it, it's a software issue and they haven't got a fix yet."

Poor, how long have Tuscans been in production, 3 years, known problem, no fix???

Wrong focus by TVR I think, on the other hand, solving existing problems doesn't make them ££££ so is of no interest, new cars which look nice will.

I would say: first sort out the existing problems, especially with the engines; I guess too many customers (new customers as well as current TVR owners) keep away because of this; a lot of potential revenue waiting!

then, develop new models if required based on this sorted platform

I agree, but PR and Marketing demands that new models are in the pipeline as soon as the furore from the last product dies away. That's also why many products are brought to market before they are 100% sorted.

Personally I think some PR effort (and factory input) showing that TVR are working hard to solve niggly problems would be no bad thing, but I guess it doesn't make money, at least not in the short term.

Bit difficult to do this, when as I understand it PW does not accept TVRs are any more prone to niggles than other sports cars

The problem is that TVR build cars to the limited type approval regs and as such can only build so many of any model, hence "new" models like the Cerbera Red Rose and Tuscan S come out.

As for the software fixes, the wandering mirrors was a problem very early on and was allegedly fixed a long time ago, and I thought the disco lights had a fix as well - who did the service Bertie? Do you think they are fobbing you off or is this a new problem that the old fixes dont cure?

The service was done by TMS and I don't think they are fobbing me off as I've always found them excellent. The engine certainly feels fantastic after it's service.

If you mean the mirrors moving when you switch the ignition on thre is a fix, as TMS carried out the modification on mine in December 2000, although never had the issue with the change up lights.

I've never had the problem with the change up lights. However, when it's raining my passenger wing mirror only moves up no matter what direction you move it. when it's dry it works ok.

The shift lights flashing erraticly is apparently a "known issue" which they're on with. My mirrors are similar to yours but with mine it's the drivers door and it only goes down, whichever way you move it.

Only been making Tuscans 3 years so you can't expect them to have sorted the teething problems yet!!!!!
