Good forum.....just a quick hello from East Anglia.
Just got my first maserati, a 1983 Merak SS with a genuine 14k miles. Had it a week and spent 5 day awiaghting parts (oil gauge showing zero pressure, new sender needed)but so far loving it. Im a confirmed petrol head with a few cars mainly classics including 1961 950 mg midget, 1966 e-type,1972 bmw 3.0 csl,1965 mgb roadster, 1983 maserati merak, 1979 Royce shadow 2 and a few other bits and bobs.
will post some pics of merak when I get it back on the road.

Greetings! A very nice choice of motor vehicle (and vehicles) if I may say so.

As a fellow country boy I haven’t actually been to many of the East Anglian Pistonhead gatherings but hopefully before long the De Tomaso will make it beyond the end of the drive and I will bring it along to a meet.

Some early 80’s Italian exotic chat would always be very welcome

Thanxs for the warm welcome.... The new oil sender is on 160 psi cold at tickover droping to around 60 when warm at tickover and gose right up to 150 psi at 4000 rpm when hot. Did a proper job and instead of buying a £100 sender from the Stealership brought a standard 0-8 bar sender from the local factors for £24 and made a s/steel bush up with 10mm inlet going to a m12 thread with a 1.25 pitch, so I can now fit a easy available sender. Also fitted the Ansa exhaust and it now sounds a lot beter with the only jobs left to do is rebuild the carbs, got a kit of ebay for £44 and the car will realy benifit from a proper set up. Just a air con recharge and a few litle jobs and its a good one.

I ve put some pics up at www.villagephotos.com/pubgallery.asp?id_=791495
and will take some proper pics of the merak at the week end. bit of a strange collection but they all have one thing in common, they dont depresiate and quite a few are road tax free and all insured on limited miles (6k per car per year) with a total cost of under £800 fully comp.
