New van, LWB, options

We are currently looking for a replacement for our Transit van, which is a standard size, but we are looking for a longer wheelbase, ideally without going for a high roof, as It's just not needed. We don't want to be stuck with a van that's too big for 90%+ of what's needed.

What are our options reliability, comfort, prestige wise?

How quickly do you need the replacement? Are you looking new/used?

If now, from what I gather lead times on some vans (inc. transits) are substantial - if needed in short order this is likely to limit your options.

We will be keeping the current Transit, we also have a 59 plate Transit which I'm doubtful about getting another MOT on it? So, maybe 4 months?

I'd be looking at things like the "new" section of autotrader and seeing who has what in stock as getting a factory order in that time is unlikely to happen - this may limit your options a lot more (although a lot are chassis shares amongst different manufacturers)

For smaller vans, run Merc, the Vito in either L2 or longer L3 size. Min engine 116. Find them to be reliable high milers, and comfortable for the crew. Yes they are much more expensive than Ford, Renault, Nissan, etc.

Ducato probably the most cost effective.

We've just had our new Transit Custom L2 Limited Auto turn up this week, ordered Nov last year so approx 8 months. We think they're the best option...
I'd ring round the dealers and see if any have anything coming through. We have another 2 in use which are on 125k (4yrs old) and still going strong.
