OK so i have this book about alex zanardi's driving career, very good as a matter of fact and very interesting. I was wondering what levels of formula racing can you rent a car for a race over there.(placed in the top 20 at Redbull and suddenly got a huge itch to go raceing) I plan on doing some rotax this next summer and after that i want to do skip barber sometime. maybe a year later who knows. I know you guys may or may not know about U.S. racing but i was just curious as to what class to move onto from karting. What is the normal rotation for a driver in europe. I've also flirted with the idea of doing some racing across the pond to get a feel for how competetive it is over there. (which im sure is america x 100)Any tips would do fine. Thankyou for your help. Also i would really appreciate any you can't do this or that, because honestly money is 95% of racing.

If you really have the money you can rent a car from Formula Ford to F1...

can only speak for the UK but kickstart said it all, it is solely dependant upon budget though there may be minor license restrictions at first.

Small bucks will pay for a drive in a formula ford, a bit more will get a drive in a Radical or something similar, all the way upto the Friday test session seat for Minardi at an F1 grand prix. the best thing to do would be get along to a race meeting and talk to people, find the people who rent out racers and talk cash. They would be more than happy to bring a car to the circuit for you ready prepped andguide you through your first few races.

race meeting is just another term for a race day. as in "a meeting of racers". Its not like an office meeting! ah the english language!....

If you have a look at the monoposto website there are a few ads from people who rent single seaters
try www.monoposto.co.uk
If you have more cash and you fancy Radicals then the radical factory rent cars, google for their website. Don't forget you will need a license if you want to race in europe so I would speak to the MSA or the American equivalent about the position.
I imagine the best starting point may well be the Silverstone 5 day race course which includes a race on the last day, not cheap but probably the best course around in the UK.
