Our wonderful Mayor has confirmed the expansion to cover the majority of London will go ahead August 2023.

TBH it is no surprise. Anyone that needs to drive in London that has bought a non complying car in the last 5 years was unwise.

And anyone that voted for him has no reason to complain.

Indeed. He does what he says he's going to do.

If people don't like it, then stop voting for him.

Turkeys and Christmas.

There was a public consultation sham. The thing is it is the poor and those on low incomes that will suffer the most, people who likely voted him in.

And seeing as a fair proportion of 'the poor and those on low incomes' will not drive (living in a capital city with a good public transport system), they won't care about his LEZ/ULEZ plans.

I dont get a vote who is Major because I live outside London, however this effects my place of work.

Those who responded to the public consultation and opposed the expansion were dismissed by the Major as some sort of organized group whose opinions did not count.

And yes I run a perfectly good high mileage euro 5 diesel (owned for 6 years) that will now have to be replaced and no doubt be worth buttons now.

Will happen to every city. Feel sorry for the people with small businesses and people who need to visit and care for the elderly etc. New vehicles are so expensive

Outer London often doesn't have the transport links of central London.

That's a really st BBC map, it manages to not show any of the major roads that that pass through and will now be in the zone.

Considering this is all about driving I'd say that was actually the info that was needed after the overlay of new zone extension was added.

Looks like I will be putting my 1992 BMW up for sale early next year. Im in Greater London, zone 6 and never drive into central London.

The problem is people just outside of the new zone are not going to drive into the zone to use the shops etc that are in the zone.

At the end of the day its just a cash grab, it has nothing to do with air quality. If it was then he could just prevent the so called polluting cars entering the current zone. Paying £12.50 does not make the car pollute less.

So the farms and rural areas etc out by Biggin Hill...all those sorts of places now have to comply with a ULEZ?

I'll give you an example. My Gran's carer looks after a dozen or so old folks in a radius of say two-three miles, she drives a non-compliant car, she will now have to buy a newer car or pay a daily charge, I doubt she is on much more than minimum wage. She does 3k miles per annum, she has had the same car for 8 years .

There will be lots of examples like this.

Yes lots of owners with 'classic' cars and toys will be caught, my mate has a 2002 XJR, he will have to sell or pay the fee for the twice a month he uses it.

Cheers. Yes they do. We have elderly relatives living near Cudham, really you'd class it as rural and out in the sticks. They are going to have to pay a daily ULEZ charge now unless they upgrade their car, which given they are OAPs isn't going to be easy. Public transport not amazing round there either.

Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Kingston upon Thames and Sutton don't even have Tube stations.

Is it a petrol? I checked and looks like a 2001 XJR is ulez exempt, so your mate won't have to pay it. Lucky sod!

You can add far larger areas of South London to that. In most of it all you have is train stations and buses. The bus routes are better than in many other areas of the country but it still isn't brilliant to rely on. Plenty of people in the outer boroughs as well who bought their cars a long time ago and can't necessarily afford to replace them.

My parents are inside the south circular so this doesn't affect me, just saying in general.
