Help again - master cylinders this time!
Discussion
OK, so I marked the master cylinders with permanent marker (clutch, and front and back brakes), then wrapped them in plastic bags and put them away in a box. Now I come to re-use them, the brake fluid has seeped out and my permanent marker ain’t permanent any more.
So – what cylinder is what? (Oh, and this off a floor mounted pedal box.)
I’ve got 2 identical ‘AP CP2623’ master cylinders, and a ‘Girling-70’ (or at least that’s what it looks like it says). I remember the brakes used a different master cylinder back and front, so one of the APs MUST be for the clutch.
What I have to work out is therefore what is the cylinder for the back brakes and what is the front. Visually, the Girling unit is narrower than the AP, so I’m speculating it has a smaller bore. My thinking goes a smaller bore means more pressure, so this must be the front circuit. However, this does assume the Girling master cylinder really is a smaller bore internally than the AP.
Anyone know if I’m guessing right, and the AP2623s are for clutch and back brake, and the Girling is for the fronts?
