insofar as Flavio Briatore's personal guest on the starting grid today was Mike The-Ear-Biting-Rapist Tyson, which of them showed the worse judgment in his choice of friends?

Good question. As far as mastery of the English language goes, we'll call it evens...

Tyson's ears are going to be ringing later on. Not from punches this time, but from standing on the pitwall with his head leaning out of the gap where the pit boards are hung out with no ear protection!

I don't understand why Rosenthal was getting so excited about how were going to "talk to tyson"... I'd have much rather watched an interview with bernie... I think most people interested in F1 wouldn't be interested in some violent thug.

Hear hear! But then again, didn't 'The Count' get all excited 'cos he could see some footballer off-camera in the paddock a few races ago? F1 eh? What does he know!

P.S. Good race though!

Almost as questionable was Martin Brundles judgement in coming out with 'Whats it like to punch someone?' to Tyson.

Must be a touch of Allen-itis, very worrying it seems to be contagious.

Flavio and Mike both know (knew) Naomi Campbell so they must have had plenty to talk about . . protecting themselves from wild punches etc . . .

I got the impression he was told to find and interview Tyson but seriously dislikes the guy and his actions. The interview seemed to be right on the edge of being almost rude enough to take offense to but not quite.

Class imo.

I think Brundle did that on purpose. What else is he supposed to ask him? Apart from the usual crap people he see's on the grid, you can see him get excited when there is someone he really wants to talk to, that might have something interesting to say rather than "I love F1, its so great, blah, blah"

I agree - Brundle has a unique knack of being sarcastic without it being obvious to the recipient of his sarcasm (but obvious to everyone else !). Still remember with glee the John Prescott "Damien" faux pas at the British GP a few yrs ago & Brundle's reaction. Brundle remains a top interviewer/commentator IMHO.

Definitely, especially the comment he made as he walked away. Something along the lines of "at least [my headphones] on my ears are safe".

It may be tha fact that he was a sports presenter before he got involved in F1.
