It's been a long wait and realistically I don't think I'll get mine for another year, been on their books for 2 years. I think I've lost faith / interest in the Emira. Wondering how many feel the same.

I'm happy to make do with my Elise with the top off and the summer sunshine. If I really want to have an Emira next year I'm sure there will be some nice spec second hand ones less then a new one would cost.

Going to https://www.emiraforum.com/ will give you a better idea of that (how many have given up).
I have one on order (i4) and tbh, Lotus are not impressing me so far (especially as someone new to the brand).
My order was placed Feb 2023 and I have been told it will be with me q2/q3 2024.
Have been surprised with some of the issues people have had - especially as some comment "the Emira is an Evora in a fat suit!".
Maybe scaling up production, especially with covid, suppy chain, energy prices etc etc has been challenging for Lotus.

I placed the deposit 23 months ago nearly to the day. Always wanting the i4 configuration. I already have a GLA45 Merc so know what the engine is all about. Expected cost at time of placing the deposit was looking at the advertised from of from 62.5K (a bargain in my eyes, so got my deposit in fast).

Fast forward to configuration day earlier this month. Price has jumped up to 72.5K. With manufacturing cost rises and such like i fully expected this and its quite understandable. They are still trying to run a business at the end of the day.

Then Monday of this week i received a further email asking me to do another configuration where the price had jumped up to 78.5K. This didn't land well with me so I managed to get them to phone me by activating it through the on line chat. Where the guy said this was likely a computer glitch type mistake.................in coming days this proved to not be the case it was just a further way of notifying me indirectly of another price hike! Furthering from the the last guy i spoke to on the phone. He said even that 78.5K price could well change and we all know what he means about that.

That is some hike. There are some sub 80k V6 cars out there with low mileage. For me that looks good value. Just my thought.

Trouble is most UK i4s will now likely be delivered Spring 2024 so will probably be subject to yet another price increase before then taking them well over £80k which is too much imo.

Unless Lotus sort out the numerous issues with their V6 FEs including the recurring paint problems, used V6 Emiras will be big depreciators and likely be sub £60k by 2024 with consequential similar effects on the i4 which will be churned out in even bigger numbers.

I cancelled my pre price increase V6 FE for these reasons and whilst I still have a deposit down for a late 2023 I4 am seriously disillusioned with Emira.

Lotus should realise style over substance just doesn't cut in with any new car in 2023 never mind an £80k one. If only they came anywhere near Porsche in some areas that would be some recompense but they fall seriously short in too many important areas unfortunately.

I gave up after the first price increase. I was already unsure and that just tipped it.

I do t know why but the whole experience just made me uneasy. So I started seeing what else I could get for the money. Ended up with a 718 GT4. Which I think suited my requirements a bit better. Personal choice obviously.

It is a shame Lotus seem to be doing a spectacular job of blowing what is a fundamentally a really good car.

It’s probably just me but around 80k for 4 cylinder just doesn’t stack up to me, these are emotional purchases. On an un emotional point a Cayman S is 62k, I know the options list is dangerous but should still be able to get a nicely specced one for under 75k. I’m not sure Lotus has the brand to be the premium option at the moment.

Does make me worry that Geely might be watching in the background thinking that maybe Lotus can’t be trusted to run themselves.

I have a similar thought process, am due an i4 late this year, deposit still in and configuration confirmed. However with the issues you have mentioned and the poor comms I’m hanging in by the skin of my teeth, if there’s another price increase before expected delivery then I will definitely cancel. Will be very interested in the reviews of the i4 when they finally happen and of course a chance to try a demo this year would be nice!

Same here, currently Nov’23 delivery for i4 but no communication recently since confirming spec post price increase. Expecting an opportunity to test drive in August but not sure how realistic that is given the recent silence on i4 progress.

In the mean time I got carried away and made the mistake of test driving a 570S Spider. Now have a 570S Spider which I plan to use daily most of the year, it’s essentially taken the place of the Emira… interest and excitement has waned.

Have often toyed with the idea of a 570 myself but dismissed it as a daily - too wide and low for the roads I use - and difficult to park at the local gym, where it would look rather ostentatious. How are you finding it?

I’ve finally thrown the towel in. Emira order cancelled.

I don’t find the 570 size to be an issue, it’s actually quite a small car and feels it on the road. Great visibility at the front helps and it feels very at home on small country roads. Front lift is essential as it’s very low, won’t clear a pheasant carcass without lift (ouch fresh ppf please). I use the lift a lot but it’s easy to access so becomes habit.

Biggest issue with parking is the extra width you need to open the doors as they swing out and up. I’ve managed three trips to the supermarket without issue so far by looking for a space that affords me some extra girth!

The car definitely gets lots of attention but it’s been 100% positive so far.

Suspect this would be a killer for me - I park in crowded car parks with tight spaces most days. I suppose I could probably find a remote space where I could get out - but I'd be paranoid that someone would park next to me and I'd not be able to get back in again.

May not be of interest but I was on the Lotus stand at Goodwood FOS earlier today and asked the Lotus chap what the lead time was, unsurprisingly he said 2 years but advised he had 4 v6 manuals available immediately, cancelled he said due to rising pcp monthly payments.

I was in Lotus today looking to replace my Taycan 4S (company car) with the new electric Lotus

Dealer said orders on Emira’s were being hit badly by interest rates putting people off, he had a few newV6s available now from cancelled orders

With the Electra coming out, and really big volumes expected, it did not feel like Lotus are ready to support the uptick in volume, especially knowing how Many problems Porsche have had with the Taycan

I fancy a change, not sure if a Lotus is the right decision? Feels a little small beer

Even Porsche it taking a rinsing on their pure EV's. Taycan by far the worst depreciating Porsche.

Emira is unlucky, the finance on these types of cars dictates the real volume after the sugar rush of fanboys, newest toy owners and influencers. The finance just went expensive. Look at the used 911 values falling to get an idea of how soft the market is for premium sports cars around the £80k price point.

Early buyers looking to offload First Edition Emiras will have to swallow £60k valuations by next Spring.

Yep as previously posted reckon the smart money will go on a lightly used 3 month old later run Emira V6 FE around £60k next year with all the initial issues and warranty work having already been sorted by Lotus.

Bloody hell!

Due to an unwanted pay rise next year I am looking at leasing a Taycan as a way of keeping me out of the 62% income tax band. However it's £1,200 of your actual net income a month to lease a Taycan base model on a 10,000 mile a year 2 year lease deal. Which seems loopy expensive when it's no cheaper per mile on fuel than a BMW 840d. Which for 24 times £1200 you could actually own outright after two years rather than hand back...

Taycans are going to be very cheap because they don't have the frugality or the range of a Tesla, the fanbois don't want them, the servicing costs are Porsche OEM, so what is the point once the tax breaks are gone?

Very very niche.
