I'm sure I read somewhere the other day that there was going to be a support race to the Porsche Supercup featuring Boxsters, but I can't find anything online.

Anyone?

Never heard of it.

Although I reckon it would make a great series.

Stripped out 2.5s - the base car shouldn't be that much money any more - and they'd look great! Strip the roof out and all the trim...fir a cage and extinghuiser.

I'd insist on them being "open" and not allow the fitting of, say, Carbon Fibre "hardtops".

A bit like Max5. It would be very cool.

I should imagine that they would be 987 Boxster's so 2.7 or the 3.2S.

Yes apparently it will be ex F1 drivers using 987 'S' as a support to some Grand Prix races.

Instead of the Supercup race or in addition to? Any idea?

I'd love to see this!

Sorry don't know if it's instead of, or alongside the supercup racing. The article I read (for the life of me I can't remember where)wasn't that clear.

Sorry !

Hey Guys, here's a thread on it!

www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?act=Search&CODE=simpleresults&sid=3262bde8336ab9aa18b590ffb61fe6d9&highlite=bernie

or if you dont want to register this is the info you want:

Bernie Ecclestone has backed proposals for an F1 Seniors Tour based around the Porsche Supercup, which would form part of the grand-prix support programme at selected rounds of the world championship.

The series would consist of former GP drivers, all over 45, competing in the new-model Porsche Boxsters on Sunday mornings in the same slot as currently occupied by the Supercup

Bah! I was going to post this up today.

I rediscovered the article in Autocar last night!

Sounds like excellent close racing.

Porsche Club GB are also letting Boxsters into the Club Championship next year, 2.5's will run in class 2, 2.7's will run in class 1.

So you dont have to be an ex-grand prix legend to have a go at racing one!

Anyone know of any cheap donor cars going spare, I half fancy a go myself?

Cheers

After reading an article in F1 Racing last night, it seems perhaps that they won't be racing Boxsters but 911 Cup cars.
