Apparently this year is a good year for high Severn Bores. A few 4 star and a 5 star one. 5 being the highest.

Anyone know a good place to view it? And also somewhere to stay nearby would be a nice bonus! I do have a 2019 AA B&B book so may be able to find somewhere in that once I know where Im viewing from.

Thanks all.

(have a niggling feeling I've asked this before but dont think I have)

Can't help, just registering my interest.

Hmm... wonder if you could ride it in a kayak..?

I'm sure I've seen people in kayaks on videos of people surfing it

I have watched it from the old passage inn, handy for a drink! Unfortunately this pub closed last year for refurbishment and is not yet open again.

Thanks. Good view from Newnham then? Not likely to be a massive crowd and cant get to the front or anything?

I have never been to see it but I have cycled along the road which runs along the bank through Framilode and Epney which looked a good vantage point. But the river is quite wide there so I guess the bore isn't much of a spectacle. Going all the way to the end at Arlingham also looks like it has potential.

I took my son and his friend (both young teenage surfers) to see the bore twice over 20 years ago. Started at Minsterworth and ended in Gloucester with 3 stops in between. It's a fabulous spectacle as it increases in height the further up the estuary it goes. Loads of surfers and canoeists attempting to surf it, and a rib following behind when we were there. Be aware it's very popular at the peak tides, cars parked all over the place and loads of people following it as it travels up stream, but a great day.
