When I head off to the US for our road trip in the summer I want to record the car journeys. I have an Insta 360 X3 and was planning to use this but understand it might have overheating issues with it being plugged into the USB slot all day. Also, it means removing when we stop (I suspect it would be quite attractive) whereas a dash cam is probably quite a common sight. So wondering if there is a simpler way to do it - and that with a 4k dashcam. Now, I am a bit of a tech luddite so be gentle with me please.

I want to record when I am driving, and then be able to edit etc at a later date. If I understand dash cams correctly, they record small length files and then fill the memory card up, then over write the first file, and so on. I want to avoid overwriting, so get I need two or three memory cards that I can copy to some cloud storage at night. I intend to keep a card in it overnight to record any potential issues etc. I think I can cope with the smaller files and work out. away of stitching together and if I know a memory card will last for x number of hours then I can cope with that with planning.

So, please, can I have a recommendation for a 4k dash cam that can do what I want it to do - unsure of budget but just need decent video quality and reliable.

Or am I mad? beer

Mods - I was looking in the wrong place so happy if this is closed. Many other threads on dash cams to hijack if needed.
