Hi PH

Apologies if this has been done before.

I'm looking to potentially buy a house that has a single garage at the front and a decent amount of driveway (circa 3-4 cars of space).

I was just wondering, has anyone ever tried to extent a garage forwards i.e. towards the road in order to get extra length?

From what I can tell online this would require planning permission but it then gets a bit messy with distance from the road and distance from the neighbouring property etc.

I'd be looking at something like an additional 2m just to get some extra space.

Thanks in advance.

If it is going to be in front of the line of the house then you will be very unlikely to get permission.

If you can get a Birds Eye view up prior to Equus spotting the thread you’ve got a better shot at an informed opinion!

Permission will definitely be needed, but as long as there parking space in front of the garage it’s not impossible.

Oh dear, not this one again.
I just spent a wasted ten minutes looking for the Plymouth Prowler in a carport thread.
Maybe someone else can find it quickly.

Here it is - hope this helps you OP.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

The increase in size would be for gym, not car purposes so the wooden structure etc that don't require planning wouldn't work for me.

This.
I just had planning permission refused despite many other properties in the are that have exactly what I was planning to build.
Went to appeal but still no-go.
All OK with Parish Council but beyond that no luck.
