Raised the rear wing to wash the car and will not retract, anyone know how to overcome this issue?

Thanks

I had a similar issue with a 981 Boxster GTS.
It was resolved after driving at the appropriate speed to raise the spoiler automatically and slowing down to close the spoiler automatically.
All worked fine afterward, similar to yours, it originally did not lower when using the button after washing the car.

I had similar. After driving for a few hours it wouldn't go down and the red light on the button was flashing.

I kept my finger on the button until it went down - took about 5 seconds. I gave the mechanism a clean and lube and it hasn't done it since - touch wood.

Tried driving the car, but a warning came on stating there was a fault with the wing. It told me to slow down too!

Is it in the normal 'up' position, or has it gone beyond that? There was someone on a 718 Facebook group last week whose spoiler was stuck in an extreme up position and apparently his spoiler control module had went. Dealer wanted 1400 to replace.

The wing does partially operate. It over extends when operated and partially retracts when lowing it.

If holding the button and trying to cycle it doesn't sort it, I think best case, the dealer or a specialist might just need to reset the spoiler limits. Seems to be reasonably common issues where the spoiler doesn't retract fully.

Had it on my 981, needed a new controller, done under warranty.

My service is due at the end of the month therefore I will get the dealer to have a look at it. I will post the result.

Took the car in yesterday and it just needed a software reset.

Good to know, but hoping the knowledge will never be needed. I'm on my 3rd 718, and the rear wing operations have been flawless so far.

Following as I've yet to wash my 981 and haven't yet tried the manual operation of the wing .

I haven't had issues with either of the 718s I've owned. Know it's been a problem for several 992s.

The cause on a friend's was water ingress in the bushings. The fix is some kind of specialised lubricant

I've had minor niggles with the spoiler on my 981 too. Every now and again it would give me the spoiler deployment error when I reached the deployment speed (77mph it seems?). Most of the time it would go away on next start up and it has only happened a handful of times in like 17k miles of driving. Plus the manual deployment/retraction of the spoiler using the button always works.

Another issue that has recently happened is the spoiler doesn't seem to fully retract on one side, either automatically or when using the button. It's like the right hand side of it is being raised or held up ever so slightly by a couple of centimetres. If you're standing directly behind the car you can see it, but if you just press on it gently with your hand it goes down flat without resistance.

Shrug. It's going in for some hopefully minor warranty work next month, so I've told them to take a look at it.

Might sound a silly question but if you're driving now would you know ? I've never seen the wing deploy whilst driving
