V12 Lusso gearbox noise at higher speed
Discussion
Hi all,
I've had the Lusso since Nov and it has a strange resonance noise from the rear between 65 and 75 mph.
Its like a resonace or the sort of noise you get when diff gears aren't set up properly. It starts about 65 and get louder and then fades away at 75... It happens in any gear and you can play with it on the throttle, so its load related (ie off throttle it goes away).... but its really annoying as that's generally motorway speed.
Ferrari dealer say it's how all Lussos sound and have tried to fix it on other cars but even a gearbox swap didnt solve it in their experience. To be fair I tried 2 others which have the same noise, just not as loud as mine.
Anyone else have similar?

I could be well wide of the mark here so please forgive if this is the case. We bought an early California a few years ago and in the process of doing my homework, speaking to various techies and specialists etc, a very well regarded chap told me to expect some noise from the rear. I don't know if it's considered 'normal' or simply not uncommon to have (in his words) noise that sounds like a wheel bearing or low-pitch gearbox whine that's actually the fuel pumps. I was told the direct injection pumps run at a very high pressure and can/do get a bit noisy. The guy in question runs an outfit that conducts DSG box repairs/replacements and also races Ferrari's with the these gearboxes. Our car also makes a bit of noise from the rear at those kinds of speeds and I've had no indication that there's any other issue.
I hope that helps a little but as I say, ignore if this is not the case or inaccurate!
