I’m driving to the south of France over the summer and the family will be flying into France - works out economical versus rent g a hire car with car seats etc for three weeks.

The pickup is fine, but there’s a significantly cheaper flight home for them from Geneva.

Am I right in thinking there’s a ‘French’ entrance to Geneva, meaning I can drop family off without having to apply for the Swiss version of clean air permits etc and passport control? If so, can they be dropped off at French side and get over to other terminal (flights say GVA which I believe means Swiss side?)

They don't check passports at the Swiss border, and you only need a vignette if you use Swiss motorways. But yes, there is a little door (literally biggrin) between the two sides.

The French entrance to GVA involves a big detour, so don't bother.

The French Crit'Air is recognised in Switzerland, so no need to get the Swiss Stick'AIR version.

As mentioned above, if you drive on the Swiss motorway you need a vignette (40 CHF). But if you're just driving in to GVA you can avoid the A1 between Bardonnex on the border and the airport by using back roads.
