TVR's Spit Fire? How?
Discussion
So how do you get a TVR Chimaera to spit a lick of flame. Not being that technically minded i would be interested to know how to achieve this? I have seen a flamer kit but the discalimer that says in small print "ALWAYS CARRY A FIRE EXSTINGUISHER IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES" kind of put me off a tad. S3TAY

My (cat) V8S spits flames sometimes during gear changes when the exhaust is really hot, if that's what you mean? Happens because it is set up pretty rich, causing excess fuel when I lift off the power. It sounds as if that flamer kit you refered to is one of those gadgets that inject neat petrol into the exhaust and ignite it for a continuous flame. Completely different and personally I can't see the point, but hey it's a free world.
Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

hey you said you wanted flames!!
I think motorvation just increase the fueling as described above.
My wedge spits flames when i lift off on the over-run high in the revs. The fuel regulator is adjusted to give optimum fuel at peak revs, so when you snap the throttle closed, you get blue flashes and white flames from the exhaust. no speed increase, just added pyrotechnics for comming off motorwat sliproads at night
Over-run hmmmmm! one of my favourate words. I find myself getting a lot more loud bangs and crackles and pops if i go down a steep hill with my foot slightly on the accelarator and only slightly on the clutch. why is this? The noise is devine but i still need flames. Le Mans cars get me so jelous! Chimaera S3TAY

Couldn't agree more about the flammer kit thing it does seem a bit cheep and sh**y. I wouldn't change my RT racing super sports exhaust for a passionate night with Liz Hurley. But if flames, when changing gear at high revs is going to slow me down then i can live without flames. I wouldnt dream of putting anything on my car that had "Always carry a fire exstinguisher on board?" written in the small print. When playing F355 Challenge on the Playstation 2. I am behind another 355 and in between gears it spits a lick of flame and pops Hmmmm! I think to myself if a 3.5 V8 can do this then where the hell are the flames on my 4.0 V8 Chimaera? And in response to Tonystiny. A 6ft flame is not what i am looking for, its that 1 second of flame and a quick pop that interests me. Overfuling sounds interesting but if its going to f*** the cat i canlive without flames. Sound is just perfect as it is. Thankyou all for the advice as i know jack about this matter. and yes people with fog lights on behind you is very distracting, i usually move the rear view mirror or pull over and let them past.
