Can you take a hired TVR abroad?

My mate is keen to join me in tootling down to Le Mans next year. However, he doesnt want to do the passenger thing. If he were to hire a TVR, I assume you would not be allowed to leave the country in it?? Anyone know?

I think most hire contracts specify driving in this country only. Plus there's usually a mileage charge over a certian limit, which you would be bound to exceed, and then it gets VERY expensive....

While i was in the South of France i saw a small place in Cannes that sold and hired left hand drive TVR's. Maybe there is a place like this near Calais you could hire one from? I will be there 2003 so look out for a Blue Chimaera S3TAY it may even be a Cerbera 4.5 by then.
