Starting to think about replacing my V6 diesel Cayenne.

Another Cayenne would be an easy choice, but I do reasonably high miles, and don't really want to spend more on fuel, and Porsche dropped the diesel from the range. The new Cayenne hybrid might fit, but budget wont stretch quite that far. Perhaps I should be looking at the previous model?

Part of the problem is the current Cayenne was extravagantly specc'ed, PASM, pano roof, 18 way seats, extended leather, interesting colour etc etc and another Cayenne with a lesser spec might feel light a step back.

So, requirements:

I need to be able to tow a 2.25 tonne boat.

I like adjustable air suspension (comfort and helps hitching).

35ish MPG at real world A-Roads and motorway speeds.

Need minimum 300 mile range for weekend (only relevant for electric).

Have had a series of big 4x4s and probably want to stay with the higher driving position and traction if we ever get snow again (drive and road out is steep and un-gritted).

Lots of toys, gadgets would be good and I am a bit of a badge snob..

Looked at Model X Tesla, but somehow didn't really grab me.

Lightly used, rather than new I think.

I have come up with a rather left field suggestion for my short list, but would be interested if anyone comes up with anything I havent thoughtof, or ends up in the same place as I have.

Thanks

David

Was going to say diesel Bentayga but don’t think it fits the towing criteria, probably won’t do the quoted 35mpg either

I know of someone tried to tow a Caterham race car (in a fairly large trailer) with a Tesla Model X, the range fell off a cliff, he was 4 hours late for a rolling road session as he had to stop to charge up 3 times.
Immediately sold it and bought a Range Rover!
Someone brighter than me can explain why electric car range is more affected by towing than diesel vehicle MPG but I wouldn't entertain towing with an electric.

Gents, many thanks for the replies, exactly what I was hoping for and some suggestions I had not considered.

Probably should have mentioned I have an entirely unjustified dislike of Mercs...

Bentayga had crossed my mind, but is there a whiff of footballer?

Don't know anything about the Levante. Real world experiences?

That Blue Audi SQ7 ticks pretty much all the boxes.

My left field though had been an iXM60. Towing requirement is locally moving boats, rather than long distances, so might be OK. Challenging looks though.

Very much appreciate the thoughts.

What about a used iX50 with lots of options? Naturally that 380 miles of range in summer drops by 50% when towing

What's the budget? I didn't see one in review.

Budget flexible. Could be 80kish for exactly the right thing.

High spec iX50 a possibility, but there are so many options half the attraction of the M60 is that they come pretty much loaded.

I disagree the Bentayga doesn't have a footballer whiff to it especially in that blue on the first one.

The Levante is a very good option at that price point they drive well & are a nice place to be.

The SQ7 is very hard to look past.

iXM60 is different but personally I couldn't live with those looks.

Retrofitting a towbar to a Bentayga do-able but expensive (maybe £5k, with coding, paint etc etc.

Unless anyone knows different?

One horror story though.
