XC90 T8 - Extending the Warranty?

My XC 90 T8 comes out of manufacturers warranty in August, I'm sure Volvo will be all over me with an extension offer, however are there better VFM / less small print and exclusion policies out there to buy from independents?.

No problems at all with the car but I assume that once it lapses you can't extend?

any thoughts and actual experiences very much appreciated.
