Why isn't there a slowing down/victory parade lap after the race at Spa? It seems a shame that after sitting on one's bum for hours on end, that after the race, you can't give your favourite driver a wave/thumbs up for a job well done.

My guess would be that it is just too far and through mostly empty countryside so little point.

I doubt the teams would feel happy having to allow for the extra fuel to get around and the TV schedules would be disrupted with a larger gap between flag and podium celebrations/press conference and so on.

If a car ran out of fuel half way around it would be a huge problem trying to get the driver back in time to do the interviews.

It's mainly the unique nature of Spa, where the support races have their own pit-lane, hence why there's a pit exit lane at Eau Rouge.

If there's a parc ferme area there, why not use it, the podium's there after all.

Know what you mean, though - I remember getting caught out first time I went to Spa, all the more annoying as it was Damon Hill's win for Jordan.

You can spectate from every single corner at Spa. I walked the entire track during the 1000km last year
