Know your place Cayman..
Discussion
Just noticed that the Caymen forum area has been moved to the Boxter section and out of the Porsche (nee 911 ) section.
Perhaps Ted has deamed it not worthy of the Porsche section?
:jester:
I think it a shame to seperate the 911 and Cayman -
Clearly the upstart Boxer Boys should stay where they are.

Who does the Boxer Boys wave too? (clearly everyone ignors the Cayenne Drives)
my experience of boxster boys and girls is that they refuse to wave to anyone.
I make a habit of flashing (ahem) or waving to all the local porsches I pass. there are several old and new 911s, a 928, a violet 968 cab and plenty of 944s. almost universally there is a friendly response. the boxsters are an entirely different proposition

Soft,
I know my place (touches forelock whilst backing away)
no, please stay and keep me company amongst all these hairy chested rear-engined macho men. my car was quite clearly previously owned by three hairdressers and a women's fashion designer
(still, you'd be amazed how many pairs of curling tongs you can fit in the boot of a 968 cab)

so why is there a separate forum for boxster/cayman? explains why they dont wave to me if they think they arent driving a proper porsche
To clarify:
The Boxster forum was initially set up when one of the main, and exclusive, Boxster forums had server problems for a while. Ted kindly set up a dedicated Boxster forum so the community could continue in the manner they were accustomed to (and avoid any hairy chested ribbing that may have occured on the main forum ).
Forums are not split according to the thickness of chest wig or the size of medallion. In my experience of the Boxster S, this is a superb driver's car and outhandles almost every 911. The Cayman is basically a coupe Boxster S in terms of its platform. There are many shared components and it makes sense to put the Cayman in the Boxster forum.
The forums are not exclusive and never have been. Boxster owners are free to post in the main forum and start or discuss Boxster topics, the same with Cayman. And vice versa. However, the natural home for the Cayman community will be the Boxster forum. When I have a Cayman RS I will be posting there
Also, a while ago it was decided to treat Porsche subforums carefully. We didn't want to split it up into a million model types like Rennlist and pcgb forums as this can endanger the general chat and banter, prevent a crossover of knowledge and experiences and also cause a degree of alienation between owners of different Porsche models. The Porsche forum may yet be split, but it will be done so with careful consideration when the need or critical mass is there. Adding Cayman to the Boxster forum will help strengthen the Boxster forum in the meantime.
So basically, post where you want and enjoy yourselves. But most of the Cayman owners and discussions will take place on the Boxster forum.

here here, this holier than thou attitiude about the Boxster is boring and a bit sad
Only if you have a Boxer!
Got to make us 911 boys feel we have not wasted our money on a car that doesnt handle as well or in the real world is not much faster. if we cant mock, poke fun, we might actually feel a bit sad and inadequete.....
