Anyone got any comments / experience about using them for service, repairs etc? Good, bad or indifferent?

Paul - used them for my big 12k on 6 months ago - + brake upgrade. Very good IMO, will be back there soon for next 6k service. They service a Rover Race team an attend alot of meeting. Mike Sweeney is your man.

As long as Paul does ALL the work as he is very busy doing all kinds of things, he is fine. When I was last there over a year ago he had a bunch of kids /workers screwing around. Don't let them near you car if they are still there. It took him three hours to get around to changing the plugs, fuel filter and check timing when I was last there on a Saturday morning.
He was very reasonable then but hase hiked their rates since opening the rolling road.

Chris, sounds like you're confusing Raven Motorsport with Motorvation Motorsport in Dorking.

When they get the work done, Mike's absolutely fabulous. Just get a quote in writing and agree up front what work needs to be done. Motovation have recently worked on My Griff and offered superior knowledge , lower costs and far superrior customer service.

Sorry guys I was confusing Raven with Motivation. But it sounds like my comments were familiar to some and both have Paul's and Mike's.

Just to be clear in this confusing thread, is this comment in regard to Motorvation or Raven?

Thanks
Hutch

Nope. There's been noone at Raven called Paul for the past 3 years I've used them.

Okay, Raven are based in the Horley/smallfield. Nowhere near croydon...They are about 5/10 mins from Gatwick airport...I have used them before, reasonable and knowledgable..But are more interested in the racing side of things and not very good with customer service...The work gets done, eventually is all i can say, maybe i caught them at a bad time but would not go back....

I've used Raven a few times for both motorsport and TVR work.

They're the best independent place I've been to and are especially good with Rover V8 engines - since they build and race them in Group One Touring Cars and Classic Thunder.

Just to clarify.
Raven (near Crawley but on a farm track)seem good value and Mark Sweeney knows what they're about regarding brake upgrades and tuning. However they don't respond very quickly to emails or phone backs and I would suspect they can't be held to times i.e. Do the work while you wait.
Motorvation, Dorking off the High Street was a one-man band, Paul. Now they have another guy called Mike who answers the phone. They seem to be much more expensive than first time I went there. No doubt to pay for the rolling road they advertise.
Depends what work you're looking for- service or mods

THIS IS TO VARIFY THE CONFUSION BETWEEN 'RAVEN MOTORSPORT' AND 'MOTORVATION MOTORSPORT'.

MOTORVATION HAS NEVER BEEN A ONE MAN BAND, AND HAS NEVER EMPLOYED 'KIDS'.

PAUL HAS TWO FULLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS, WITH A BACKGROUND OF RACE EXPERIENCE, WHO WORK VERY HARD AND VERY WELL AS A TEAM.

MOTORVATION MOTORSPORT HASN'T 'HIKED' ITS PRICES SINCE THE INSTALLATION OF THE ROLLING ROAD, AS IT WAS INSTALLED NEARLY FOUR YEARS AGO AND HAS HAD A FIXED PRICE SINCE THEN.

IF CHRISH IS WHO WE THINK HE IS, WE HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF SEEING HIM RECENTLY, THE LAST TIME WE CAN RECALL WAS OVER THREE YEARS AGO.

HOPE THIS HAS CLEARED THINGS UP.
