I have posted this thread on the General forum so apologies but I realised that because I am specifically looking for a Chimera it should really have gone here.

Basically, I was wondering whether I could ask the assistance of those of you who have bought Chim's specifically with regards to what makes a car a "dog". I really don't know what to look for including the obvious.

Also, I read in another thread that some of you meet at Dirty Dicks on Bishopsgate - I work a few minutes up the road and would love to come along to your next meet and maybe have a chat with everyone. There's a diet coke in it for you!!!...

Cheers,
Phil.

if you don't know, get someone who does, is the short answer.
all the usual stuff when buying a second-hand car applies, but it is more difficult to spot what is ' normal ' if you're not sure what your looking for, so you really need someone with experience of these cars to give you a hand.
rob ingleby's name comes up a lot - but i have no experience of his services.
you should have a good choice at this time of year, not to mention dealers and specialists who will snap your hand off for some trade, so have a good look around and go for a few test drives.
don't get pressured into buying the first one you come across and don't accept a car with a lot of faults - they will only p1ss you off in your first few months of ownership.
best of luck - you've made a good choice

have a look through the threads and see what the common problems are, but probably the most important thing is to get a service history from a garage that has a good rep, because quality does vary.

oh, and the string is used in the wiper mechanism, and it's length is variable because it's elastic.

Rob is a top bloke. Talk to him about what you want and he'll find you what you're looking for. People go back to him again and again - he's had my current car twice. His number is 07799 142860.

Rob is indeed very good, one of only 3 people I deal with who sell 2nd hand tvrs .. the others being the two James - Agger (ex TMS now gone solo) and Birkby (TVR MADS in Skipton).

Hi Phil,

I go to Dirty Dicks most months - we meet on the first Monday of the month, except Bank Holidays. What age, mileage, colour, engine are you looking for and what are you currently driving?

If you need any info drop me an e-mail.

Regards,

Ian

Hi I can recomend James Agger and now he is working solo he can supply the right car at a very realistic price and he knows a lot of the cars out there from hios days at TMS and meets and shows so give him a call if your interested and he will bring the cars to you as well, The fact that he knows the history of a lot of the cars he is suppling gives you piece of mind,
07970 530890 And i am sure he will soon be offering a list of services to back him up ( watch him grow )

Rob Ingleby will help you find the right car for your spec/finance. James Agger has a good reputation and has recently started selling in his own right. Adrian Blythe is another source for good cars because he uses David Batty for service etc.

All above are TOP blokes and thoroughly recommended by all PH-ers.
