big problem..track day on monday...???

hi.. problem.. my gt3 mk1 needs a top up of oil before mondays trackday..!! only problem is that the boot opener will not open rear to engine..... anyone know how to open the rear when the cable fails.????.. there was a new cable run to the rear 3 months ago... so the failt is defo at the rear lock....?????

Are you sure it is not a problem with the catch in the cabin you can unscrew the mechanism along the sill and actuate the cable by hand. If its a problem at the back I'm not sure how you do it although I'm sure you can if its popped on a ramp.
this is the great thing about porsche...they actually think about these things breaking. If you don't fancy fishing round with a coat hanger, just take the light unit out and the loop will be obvious.
on an elise..and I'm sure DanH will agree with me on this..if the cable for the boot snapped, you were screwed....you had to literally dismantle half the bloody car to get to the locking mechanism.

Or drill a hole underneath the rear plate!
Alledgedly you could flex the bootlid in the right way too, but thats liable to cause cracks.
or take off the rear wheel remove the arch liner (not as hard as it sounds) and find the cable.
the same is true for the front - I once managed to lock the key in the front (dont ask) while in switzerland - the boys from the local dealer removed the driver side wheel and then the wheel arch liner and pulled the cable and hey presto....
