There really isn't much of this car left, it looks like it exploded on impact.

Horrible.

Yeah scary, reports reckoned that seriously silly speeds were involved, luckily nothing else.

Feel sorry for all those involved. Several officionados over on F.Chat spent some while debating the puzzling fact ... was it a bonnet cover or an undertray that was leaning against the front of the car

I'm a little worried at the comments about a "known defect" with the monocoque of the enzo.

Can anyone shed any light on this one?

Edited to correct an inability to spell

Now there is a suprise. Does anyone know the full story? The road looks pretty straight.

I read that it wasn't just a defect in the Enzo but related to several Ferrari Monocoques which can shatter on impact.

Have to say, you wouldn't expect, say, an E-class to completely disintegrate and scatter itself like that, even at 100+mph. Ok it would bend a lot though.

Do you think something like the hi-tech expensive Enzo should be safer than a mass produced saloon or less safe since it's a lightweight sportscar?

(This is obviously all regardless of the skill of the drivers)!

Haven't read anything more detailed than posted here already - but with nothing else much around, maybe lost it at high speed through wheelspin or slippery surface (diesel?) then sideways, meeting with uneven surface or road furniture, flip and multiple roll job? Certainly looks horrendous. Would be interesting to know what happened and also how the car came to disintegrate almost totally in view of its hi-tech and safety conscious F1 provenance.

mmm, heard about this one, apparently there are further pics of the damage, and a foot can be seen among the scattered remains

There's a pic on Fchat with an object circled in yellow that's claimed to be a foot, but it has only a passing resemblance to a trainer and could be anything. However, at the time, I was Fchatting after a nice bottle of red so it could have been anything really.

Obviously we can't tell what happened, but the damage would suggest that it must have hit something - I'm not sure that this look like the car flipped .... the amount of branches etc suggests that the back portion at least went through a hedge or tree etc.

The damage looks like what could happen if you lost it at speed and hit something solid side on - in that case, if the object was strong enough (a tree?) then I guess it could just go straight through the car.....

Also, looking at the debris seems to suggest that all the bits fell off on impact, then the back part continued because its momentum.

Would be interesting to know...
