does anyone have anything positive to say about OPC's? All i read here is horror stories (which is understandable cos no one is gonna come on here and say porsche changed their oil properly). but really, there seems to be a catalogue of basic and dangerous errors, rip off pricing and really shoddy customer service and thats just in the last week. my own experience is they wont even give you the time of day unless you turn up in a 360.

Likewise reception nice at AFN Reading, Parts service terrible, this weeks problem is the whole Porsche Network has been down for a week!! Upside usually get bits and pieces FOC because of the length of time they take to arrive.

Been using OPC Bristol for 3.5 years and had no problems with them. Jobs done on time etc.

I had a good experience with East London. Salesman was a nice chap (Ian McIlhargey if you are picking one), was honest about expected depreciation, how long they'd had the car and their desire to shift it. Been helpful sorting out a few post purchase niggles, and haven't complained that I'll be bringing it in for a couple of more things to be sorted.

I'm certainly very happy I bought from them, and I paid very little more than I'd have had to pay an Indy for the car, but got 1 and a bit years warranty, some training, couple of techquiment toys (umbrella + key strap), promise of some tickets to some hospitality stuff etc.

Did have a near falling out about the definition of the driver training they threw into the deal, but we sorted it.

On the whole though, very happy with the experience which is good as for me it was a seriously large and somewhat irresponsible purchase

If you are dealing with East London I can honestly recommend Ian. I'm not good at compliments, but he really deserves them.

Some of the young ladies are quite nice on the reception desks......never really had any problem with OPC myself, I still use them for some Porsche club discounted parts....

Apart from when I had a new car I prefer to get service work done at a decent friendly specialist Porsche expert who can offer useful advice rather than just dropping a car off and paying the bill upon collection.

Bought my 996tt from Porsche UK Reading (Calcott) a few months ago. They have been excellent. Took it back for attention to niggly rattles. They spent hours trying to sort it. I returned several times, not satisfied. No quibbles, they accepted my complaints every time and spent hours more getting everything sorted.

A few parts replaced after 24k service. Again no arguments, everything done under extended warranty. Excellent service and customer support.

Had a good experience at HROwen's service centre at Staple's Corner. Had to pick up something on a Saturday morning and ended up chatting with the mechanics about the 993RS that was in there for a while. All seemed like real enthusiasts. Pity it's now closed and merged into the big new corporate place in Hatfield.

Here’s a happy tale for a Friday.

A couple of years ago the OPC on Colchester was delivering mine back after its annual fettling and they had a stone put a chip in the windscreen. Without so much as a quibble they came back the following week, took it back to Colchester and replaced it.

Perhaps I’m easily impressed?

It's worth popping in and grabbing a nice cup of coffee or tea and then have the parts manager wait on you. Order something small like the grommet that goes over the allen head screw on the base of a tear drop mirror; should only come to 9p which is lots cheaper than starbucks.

Yeah, Id go along with that! Have been to the OPC near Silverstone a few times this year and the receptionists have always been lovely. Last time I was there in the summer, there was a relly nice blonde girl who was very helpful and her brunette colleague was equally nice.

Geoff

PS The service was OK too. Have been to the OPC in Sussex a few times with no complaints and I've heard good things about E london.

When you look through the plate glass windows from service reception to the workshop area they all appear to be working in slow motion - just so you can see exactly what you're spending your £100 an hour on.
