Has anyone built a 2cv for 24 hour racing by any chance? If so how much would it roughly cost to prep a car from a standard car. I can do all the work myself so am just talking about cost of bits.

Is much work allowed on the engine?

Thanks,

Mark

Dont know on that front, but if your looking for an extra driver...

I've seen cars from the 2CV series for sale for about £2500, with trailer and probably enough spares to build another car or two. From what I've heard speaking to folks in the paddock (they shared some round with the TVRCC Challenge this year), there isnt much if anything they do to change the cars from a 20min race to a 24hr race.

Look at www.2cvracing.org.uk/index.htm

"Team Calvert

My plan for the 2006 24hour race is to build a car from nothing to race spec as cheaply as possible. I am in the process of calling in all favors owed to me and almost have all the parts required. total costing so far is a staggering £45. Estimated total including paint to be no more than £200"

Don't know what the regs are but you will not have a very good time with a standard engine. I raced with a team this year that only had one special engine. That failed within the first 2 hours and we were left running something like 4 or 5 seconds per lap off the pace with a 'tweeked' engine. We then went on to destroy two futher engines eventually coming second last about 80 laps behind the winner (or was it 180 lap behind, i forget). Brief your drivers on the engine limits and practice changing engines.
