I have a 93 model, similar story, rust now starting to tke over; doors, A=panels, wings etc... I reckon you should achieve £1500 without too much problem (obviously I don't know exactly what spec yours is). I've reached the conclusion that it isn't worth trying to do odd panels or paint here and there. When I restore mine it'll be a full strip down, repanel as required and a full repaint etc... That kind of work will be circa £2000 to do, so given that c£4K seems to be a good starting point for a restored A1 90's Cooper I reckon £1500+ ish is about right. How bad is yours? Values for these are only going one way and the bodywork would not be a bad investment if it meant you'd keep the car.

Go on, do it up. Keep it.

Sadly sold the Elise, but Cayman S arriving in January. BMW 320d is the everyday mile-muncher.
