I have had a 2001 996 C2 with Aerokit for 4 months now and the Stereo has died.

It is the standard CDR and it has been sent off to be checked along with a Nirvana cd still inside.

They stereo was checked and no problems found and I am still driving around with a temporary Blaupunkt CD unit some three weeks later.

The original didn't seem to have any power and now the car horn beeps once everytime i lock the car.

Does the car not like the replacement stereo or is this a bigger issue with the electrics hence the problem with the original.

Answers on a postcard ?

I think you'll find if you remove the aerokit and restore the car to its proper guise then eveything will work fine!!

Thanks for the assistance with the stereo problem though !.

The car was bought with the kit on already and the girlfriend has 2 kids so GT3 is not possible, sorry if that upsets you.

Check the centre console lid is down properly! A single beep usually means something isn't quite shut.

Thanks but everything is shut down correctly, the horn only ever beeps when the boot lid or a door is open no don't know if it's an alarm problem !?

Starting to annoy me now, original stereo wasn't getting any power and the fuses were replaced.

he was a bit harsh ! i love the car and have driven nothing but M3's and 325CI Sport (apart from a demo White P1) for the last ten years and thought I deserved some fun before my 34th birthday.

Have you checked the centre console? It DOES beep if it's ajar.... Porsche alarm problem number one... Trust me, I know

More than likely it will be the fact that the car thinks the stero has been stolen, the way to solve it is to take the car back and you need to plug the arlam in to the stero so that it knows that you have something there, thats the best way to sort it.

I had this problem and caused some serious distress when i had a new stero fitted.

the problem with the origanal stero going down is a common as muck problem and is more common with the PCM 1 systems failing but has been known to happen to the standard Porsche system.

Heirltd is right...

You will get a short beep from the horn if you fit another stereo... I had this when I upgraded the Porsche unit to a more up to date Becker unit (same I know)there is a way round it... I can't remember it though. I phoned my OPC service centre and they told me how to do it.

Good Luck

Thanks people will triple check everything and contact Porsche in Swindon to see if it gets sorted.

Is it also true about Tesco 99 ? better than Optimax ?
