Legge crashes on F1 testing debut
Discussion
Women drivers eh...speaking of which, did anyone catch Stirling Moss' fine "damn them with faint praise" comment in F1 Racing magazine - when asked his opinion of women drivers, he replied "we've had some really good women drivers - and they're usually realistic about letting you past"

I reckon if you don't crash soon after jumping up to a new formula, you ain't driving fast enough.
lol yeah, all depends how *fast* she was really going .. if she was about to set a lap that was faster than any other minardi driver had ever set then I'd say she was just finding the limit ... if she was going 10 seconds a lap slower I'd say she was a liability ..

maybe she was touching up her lippy?
You know, comments like that don't help anyone. I think good on 'er for getting the test in the first place - something a lot of other drivers (and I make no distinction between male and female here) have done.
I know Katherine and she's a bloody good driver - she's proved this by going out to America and winning races in a very competitive championship. Yeah, so she crashed it. So what? Like no one else has ever done this. I'm sure she was pushing it from the word go - otherwise, what's the point?
This girl has got balls bigger than most blokes I know and I think she deserves a bit of respect.

I'm sure she's a very talented racer - and is much more talented than I ever will be. My comment was obviously stereotype-based humor and was not a serious suggestion that she was actually applying lipstick (or mascara or fouffing her hair in the rear-view mirrow). clearly the helmet would interfere.
Lighten up, eh?
Doubt you'd be jumping up and down if it'd been taking hte piss out of a bloke, Schuey, Jenson or whoever.
Iain
P.S. Tell Katherine 'Well done' next time you're hanging out together.
Seems as though yesterday went a little better for her...

seems to me you've completely missed the point .. Bedford Rascal sums it up perfectly though. She's in F1, the pinnacle, she stuffed it .. F1 isn't a charity.
For sure she's got big balls, presumably also a big bank balance to buy her seat like everyone else in the lower orders of F1.
talented? undoubtedly! worth giving a break? for sure! to be ridiculed for stuffing it on lap 2? indeedy ! just like a bloke would had it happened to a bloke.
Wimmin ..
I usually do let these kind of comments go but Katherine has worked very hard to get where she is and these kind of flippant comments really get on my nerves. I know that most blokes are probably thinking it anyway but that's not really the point is it.
By the way, testing times - Vallelunga (day three):
1. Juan Caceres Minardi-Cosworth 1min 21.019secs
2. Katherine Legge Minardi-Cosworth 1min 21.176secs
3. Chanoch Nissany Minardi-Cosworth 1min 24.65secs
Not bad considering Nissany is the regular test driver.
