I have now confirmed (thanks to Joolz ) that the nice bolt accompanied by 2 washers and a spring found in my drivers foot well is the pivot bolt from the indicator stalk. It now wobbles everywhere but still works....just!

Does anybody know how I get access to the stalk to screw the bolt back in???

Thanks Jeremy, I usually do a search but thought this might be a bit unusual so didn't bother!! Sounds a bit of a pain but guess I will be getting my head under the wheel for an hour or so!!!

PS nice car on your profile, nice reg too!
PPS On the thread, by "pod" are we talking about the underside of the steering column????

No, I think they mean the part holding the instruments slung underneath (clock & fuel guage).

You shouldn't need to remove the pod to repair the indicator stalk according to the thread (never had to do it myself).

Correct, by 'pod' I did mean the bit that holds the clock and fuel gauge. You don't have to dismantle anything, you just need a torch, the flexibility of a contortionist, the hands of a gynaecologist and the patience of a saint.

...like fixing most things on a Cerb then really

Thanks guys,

I'll give it my best shot tonight when I get back from work....

William, is it just a case of aligning everything up and popping the bugger back in? Sounds easy when put like that but as you say, it's a Cerb so it won't be...

Sort of, but the stalk is under spring pressure that pushes it out of alignment from the bolt hole, hence the torch. You need to push the stalk 'in' towards the steering column to line the holes up...hence the contorted, gynaecological and saintly demands of this little fix.
