Guys,

Know this is the wrong forum but more likely to get some feedback here from someone in the know!

I'm thinking of buying a Ford GT (but not an officially imported one - i.e not one of the 28!)

What did Ford do to the cars to "Europeanise" them ? (aside form fitting a problematic alarm!!)

I'm trying to figure into the equation how much it's going to cost me to get the car SVA'd (or does it require and ESVA?) - anyone got a rough idea or know what needs to be done?

Also - who looks after Ford GT's in the UK ? are there Ford appointed "specialists" - and are these people prohibited from working on "non-official" cars??

Thanks!

Hi Darren - Roush support the Ford GTs (both UK and imports). Deals can be had on importing yourself, told the SVA isn't that hard to do.

WilliamLoughran are selling a Black UK car for 145k which is a bit more, but then it's one of the 28....

Selling the Murcie ?

Hi Jon,

Nope gonna keep the Murcie (wild horses and all that....) - just looking to add something else to the stable and as I have an aversion to anything with a dancing donkey on it, I felt that it would be good to have another F car nemesis in the garage!

Seen a few in the US going for $150k so thinking I can probably get one back here for circa £110k?? ut don't know what the SVA will add to the price?? Thinking of a red or yellow one with racing stripes and lightweight BBS wheel option!!

I imported a Ford GT back in November 2004 (not 2005)

Pretty painless, had it flown over, then gave it to a company in Bristol who SVAd it for me.

USA car is preferable to the Euro cars in that the zorst hasn't been toned down.

There is a Ford GT for sale in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, sorry i forget the name of the dealer but last time i saw it advertised it was £175,000. They also had a Carrera GT for sale at about £320,000 and a DB9 at £95,000. Also have quite a few DB9 Volante's in stock and a couple of F430'S. I think they are all used cars, but if you live anywhere near it it its an interesting collection under the same roof.

I believe the key differentiating factor is that the UK cars have a vastly superior warranty,3yrs vs 1 for imports I think. That's pretty meaningful and worth some premium I would have thought.

The dealer is called SJC Bramshaw - i think they are a tad expensive considering the following

Fyi - William Loughran have a new Ford GT (UK car) for 145k
- Austin Owen are selling ex Jenson Button Carrera GT for 250k
- Red 97 550 sold for 45k
