I think you'll need it - it'll either scare you witless or you'll buy it

porsche don't make cars that are horrible to control. it's their owners that can't control their right foot.

Reputation is overdone and comes from the US, as an aside my local Porsche bodyshop has repaired far more GT3RSs than it has GT2s...............

My GT2 has 600+ bhp and can be driven easily in the wet or dry. BUT - if you are applying the right foot, you need to be thinking, as the car has massive mid-range torque and it's controlled by it's owner, not a computer - if you drive stupidly in inappropriate conditions it will bite in a big way.

GT2s are now finally starting to fall into the hands of those who appreciate them. There are 3-5 996 GT2 owners on here and a couple of my other friends are now buying them as well, as they are great value.

went from 993TT, test drove 996 GT2 and bought it on the spot, did not even ring trouble and strife. What did it was the turn in and the way it sat down under power... did not like the gear change or the driving position though.

good luck, hope its dry so you can unleash the beast.

Agree with previous poster...it's as scary as YOU decide it is. Treat it like a turbo and it will be extremely scary - if you live that long. When you realise there's no safety net and adjust your driving accordingly, it's not scary at all.

these cars are the BOLLOCKS !!
we have developed 5 600 + BHP cars and they are brilliant , not widow makers , the problems people have is (driver error).

JWB, are these the ones you badge up as a "Gt2 RS". How does that work? Do the initials stand for something else other than Renn Sport?? This has intrigued me for a while now

Can I ask the GT2 owners whether these cars can be enjoyed on British roads or is it a track tool?

Thanks

I have driven mine in all conditions on the roads and have had great fun on the track, apart from bumpy country roads and speed humps they're awesome on both, however for on track use, different tyres or a change of camber and adjustment of the anti roll bars is required to get rid of understeer

Enjoyed, yes... i put my earplugs in, off i go, ride is not that bad at all, it is low so on bumpy country roads it will be a problem. But when you get it to the track you can drive around anything even the well loved GT3RS, the straight at Bedford yesterday was a hoot, only car that appeared to have more legs was a 1000bhp lotus elise, car 8 - great laugh. Lost one of the front brake cooling scoops and the brakes overheated and failed was lucky not to collide with a car in front, oops.

1000bhp Elise? More info please as I've never heard of that! Given how hard it was to put 1000bhp into the Veyron I'm a tad skeptical

After 4000 miles and a six circuit days, yes, with reservations about bumpy or uneven roads: and yes, although it is still a heavy car to stop and steer. My ceramic brakes are mothballed before they are inevitably destroyed and Alcons now do the stopping. Although this seems to have resulted in a less supple feel to the front when steering over gentle undulations. Could that be the additional unsprung weight?

Earplugs might be needed at motorway speeds over long distances, especially on the concrete sections. Suitability for road and track might also depends on tyre choice and how grippy, prone to aquaplaning or noisy they are.

OK, i may have exaggerated a little, it was a very quick motor, i was pulling about 157mph and i could not even close at the end of the straight.

Chap could drive a bit as well.... Aceparts may know him, not sure what he has done but it was a heavy mod. (and it did not blow up.. )
