The problem is the insurance: Most of the UK companies do not cover the car on the continent; if they hear that it is going to be used outside the UK most of the time, then they refuse to help. No uk insurance, no uk registration. Can anyone advise a company to get a temporary insurance or the an insurance with the eu cover?

I've bought a new Porsche Cayenne in Hungary, I want to register it in the UK since I work there, but I am going to use it only outside on the continent. Problem: how do I do that?? Please help.

Get the form from your local DVLA office - It has a check list of everything you need to produce. From memory it's the purchase invoice, registration docs from country of purchase or certification of newness, proof of identity (and a UK address), insurance, and customs documentation showing that you have paid the import taxes and VAT. They also sometimes ask to see the vehicle.

Have a look at www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/exptimpt.htm

It won't be easy to find a UK insurer who will give you long duration cover abroad. I think nel struggled to find this for his 993.
