They were made at the request of Fritz Haberl a Munich Dealer, who has one of the biggest Porsche dealerships in the world. He asked Porsche if they would make a 993 Turbo Cabrio, after much thought they said yes, but only if he ordered at least ten. They were built with the 964 Turbo 360bhp engine and Cup-style split-rims. Six remained in Germany, with the rest going overseas.
Hmm.. Bit sozzled (hic!) at the mo but if my memory serves me well the speedster that was knocking around was an arena red based on an 993 RS of all things (advertised in Porsche mag).
Talk about a wasted classic...
Pete - how was the Boxing TR?? Hope you did Budaholic on the Embankment traffic lights to uphold the Stuttgart honours

Ric,
Couldn't
I threw my alternator belt whilst rolling along Piccadilly, so at Parliament Square i had to head out of town again. Got the Heston Services before the battery finally gave up.
I have the new belts in my hands, along with the special Porsche tool for holding the alternator shaft. It'll be back on the road before the day is out.
GUTTED. It looked like being a particularly good run.

I think the moral of the story is nothing in this life is entirely predictable. This is my first 911 "incident" in 60k miles.
I always carry a spare DME relay, just in case, but haven't needed it yet.
I should now start carrying a spare fan belt and alternator belt too.
Of course no AA man carries the right tool to change the belts anyway though, so pop down to your local OPC and pick up a special tool, part number 999 571 052 02 for about £14 and carry that in the car also.
And no, i don't think anyone really noticed, i subtly went right at the lights instead of left and then roared off
And the engine only cut out 30 feet before i was going to park up at Heston Services anyway so i coasted it in.
