I have a loud buzzing noise coming from beneath the offside front wing just above the top of the front wheel, the noise is only audible when the engine is running and seems to be coming from a cylindrical object mounted in the wing cavity (off side) of the engine bay, this object has a pipe running from the bottom of it but I cannot see where it goes. I have listened with a wooden rod and the noise definitely seems to be coming from this and you can also feel a sympathetic vibration. It did only seem to start after the car had the steering recall done but that may just be coincidence.
Any help or advice most welcome.

May be something to do with the suspension actuators but not sure.

Is the round unit red? If so then the suspension actuator is making a noise, which it doesn't normally, but at present i can't think of anything else to in that area thatyou have described.

cross your fingers that this is not an actuator problem, this is a potentially expensive fix

Nope; 'tis a black, round canister about the same height as, and slighter fatter than a D-cell battery, with what appears to be a black hose comming from the bottom surrounded in a patial metal braid.

The car was in for a check on the oil pressure recently and I asked the dealer to check the "buzzing" noise, they tell me it is something to do with a Vaccuum or vapour? mechanism and as usual "Maserati don't have any", does anybody know what this part could be, I would like to try Eurospares but it would help if I knew what I was asking for.

Hi Ive got some contacts who break late low mileage 3200/4200's. I dont have the details with me but will post them tonight for you. If Maser dont have the unit you want, one of these guys will have at a fraction of the cost.
