I currently have a 4.0l Chimaera, but am getting fed up with water getting in and have the cash available to move to a 4.5 Cerbera..... but will I like it. Okay, I won't be able to take the roof off, but blink and you miss our two week summer. Do the Cerberas let in as much water, and are the engines really that flakey?

Looking at dealer prices, is £22-£25k ball parkish for an R registered job, or is that pushing it a bit in the current climate. Obviously I'd prefer to buy privately, but I'd need to p/x the Chimarea.

All TVR's will leak unless sorted, I'd suggest your current car could be quite easily fixed with some reproofer and sealant.

Cerberas are the same, mine let in a lot of water when I got it, a few minutes fiddling and it is as dry as a bone. My Griff has also had it's damper moments but it is also very dry.

The price you are looking at will get youa very nice example, however I'm not sure about trae in stuff and selling TVR's privately at the moment is an arse.

Cheers and good luck.

I went from a 4.2 Cerbera to a 4.0 Chimaera. I do miss the cerb but the fact that the roof comes off the chimaera more than makes up for it.The Cerbera's forte was that it was very fast and that was it really.the Chimaera has the advantage of being just about a fixed head coupe in the winter ( I have'nt had any problems with the hood but I understand some people have) and an open car in the summer.

Take one out and see what you think.

I moved from a 4ltr Chimaera to a 4.5 Cerbera just over 4 months ago. No particular reason, just fancied a bit of a change.

I don't miss the roof coming off as much as I thought I would. But, the Cerbera is a very different beast to the Chimaera and I am still getting used to it. The performance is awesome, but the car deserves a lot more respect in the wet than the Chimaera. I wouldn't change back.

Wereabouts above the drivers footwell??
Is this the classic mastic around the clutch master cylinder thing (that I have heard lots about), or something new to look out for??

hmm, let's see .. you're asking if you'd like one of the quickest, most stylish cars on the planet that can do 180mph and be on your drive for 20k (ish) .. I think the answer might be "yes" ..
