Thinking of changing the gallardo for a murcie roadster, can any of you guys give any feedback about how useable it is with out shit weather and the roof only rated to 110MPH?

Thanks

Andy

Speaking as someone who hasn't seen one (therefore opinion worth nowt !) I'd say not very useable.. why not consider the Gallardo roadster ?

All reviews I've read say the Murci hood is a waste of time and a PITA.. even in the height of summer downpours can happen at any time.. I wouldn't want a deluge inside my £200K car.

As a former lambo owner i wish to re-phrase your comments!

I wouldny want a deluge in my £200K car that will, by the time the summers over, shortly be worth £130K!

Funny you say that Octane, I was going to edit my comment to mention depreciation (that I perceive will hit them) but I think it depends on whether Lambo are going to meet demand, or more sensibly drastically restrict the numbers to protect residuals. My guess is the former.

The roadster hood is impractical, you can only do 90mph with it up and it takes 20 minutes to put on, plus it is almost impossible to do without some damage to the paintwork around the frame. Depreciation is a difficult one to judge, there are only (I think) 14 RHD UK cars cars but the demand is small and the cars didn't go for premium, suggesting depreciation will be steep - but probably no more than a Murci coupe in % terms. It is a different animal to the Gallardo, and you are unlikely to see another one or be out-shone at almost any car show!

I see you bought your Gallardo from Top 555, they are very pleasant to deal with. I just can't stand the wheels on the SLR they have in at the moment!

Hope this helps,

William

You can get a carbon fibre roof for the Roadster. To say its ugly is an understatement... few threads on Lambo-Power.com about it

They are, so long as money isn't an issue for you.

As already mentioned you can get a CF roof for the roadster now. I think it can be kept on above 90mph aswell. This should make it a bit easier to live with.

I dont have much experience with the roadster, but I found the Murci significantly harder to live with in London then the G. Would expect the Roadster to be worse if anything.

But its probably going to be one of the rarest cars on the road. I'm yet to see one (and i've seen everything else including a few enzo's).

If you mean for regular use, its still compromised as a daily driver. Main problems are:

1) Not much concealed storage.
2) Poor turning circle.
3) Poor clearance (although theres a metal plate under there, so unless you hit the nose dead on, its not going to do any damage).
4) Attracts alot of attention

But IMO its as close to 911TT useability as you can get, while retaining the best parts of the Murci. I'm no Schumi, but I think it handles better aswell.

Should add, I haven't had a chance to put a F430 through its paces yet.

I was looking for an alternative too the 996TT, i was thinking either Gallardo or late-ish 360. Iv heard of alot of clutch problems with the lambo. This doesnt really put me off as can be fixed under warranty but i understand that Lambo are not the best example of service in the High end performance market? This is not a statement but more a question. If i have clutch problems i dont to wait 1 month to get it fixed.

Anyone had any experiences?

the presence of it is something else. is it just me who prefers the normal Murcie wheels though?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the feedback, still waiting to hear from an actual owner (I think I may have a long wait!)

In Reply to Bund's question: The gallardo is an awesome car, compared to my previous 993 GT2 the performance is probably the same (Handling is alot better) but the experience, sound(the best bit!) and peoples reactions all make a far more special experience.

I love the Gallardo, I just think the Murci has a far greater prescence on the road and it has the proper doors. The gallardo is still a better looking car IMO but I think a Murcie Roadster will command even more attention from Joe Public.

Mr C: Where abouts in the country are you? When i took my Gallardo into Lambo manchester last year for a service they had a new white Murcie Roadster for customer delivery (its got to be the same car, I can't believe there's two white ones in the UK). Anyway had a sit in it... awesome.

Haven't had any clutch problems.

I did have a problem with my brakes. Car was picked up within the hour. Brakes replaced (under Warranty) and car back within the week.

I use Lambo High Wycombe, and this is typical of their great service.
