I wonder what rollcage comes with the clubsport gt3.

I had a half cage (porsche one) put into my gt3 mk1. Does anyone know if a front cage can also be put in, that bolts into the floor - where might this end - top of the A pillar?

Also, i have in the back of my mind that front cages are not road legal? - is this right?

cheers

Ajit.

I'm sure front cages are road legal, but they are dangerous if you aren't wearing harnesses. I have a full welded in cage, and I wear full harnesses all the time. It's a bit of a pain, but that's how my car is.

A roll cage is perfectly road legal. The problem might come with your insurance company, they don`t like them.

The CS came wih a full cage that could be installed in two pieces. i.e. you could remove the front part and keep the rear on it's own. The front cage drops down from the roof and into the driver/passenger footwell where it is bolted onto two plates in the floor. I think that the full cage renders the sunvisors inoperative but it doesn't damage any of the interior trim.

If you have front cage and not wearing a helmet (very dangerous) suggest over padding of area to the side and in front above screen (same for passenger side)
The padding should be a specific type, you can buy it from Safety Devices , again its a dangerous area as all data has been done by FIA expecting occupents to be wearing a helmet.

You are right about padding, it's a good idea.

I still think that wearing harnesses means you won't move much in a bang, and you would be hitting your head on the roof anyway without a cage. The difference with a cage is that the roof won't deform as much, so you will probably be safer even if you don't have a helmet on....as long as you strap those harnesses on tight.

Cheers gents, i'm thinking of getting the front bit put in to complement the rear.

So am i right in thinking the front part is not joined onto the rear? If so, it would appear that I can get it put in. The mouting points should be there on the "comfort" version.

The CS cage is a big thick black job, suitable for motorsport use. It has a bracket to join the two halves together. The Maxpower alloy Tecquipment job is designed as a rear cage only and as far as I am aware will not allow the front part of the CS cage to bolt onto it. See the pics on the Carnewal site If you want the full cage then you will need to buy the whole thing and get it fitted all over again. Not sure if the front mounting points are in the Comfort spec, I don't think that they are.

Now now Steve, enough about big thick black things against my bling alloy tequipment maxpower jobee. Its more than just for show you know....gets me 'nuff looks, init.

I'd like a fuller cage but looks like i can't do it without removing my existing one. Don't want to do that either. I'll find out. I don't suppose the alloy tequipment one i have is as good as a roll bar as the clubsport one...if only i'd known when i did it.

I knew i shouldn't have looked at the carnewal site - you know what happened to my 993 when i frequented it...

Shortish driver strapped in probably cannot reach the bar across the screen, but the one across the top of the door even for an average height driver... ouchie... seen it at Donny, 911SC bottom of craner, hit wall head on, he was wearing a helmet and it still cut his head and left him wandering around the grass with concussion, the car did not have a cage and i think he had normal seat belt...made me think.... don't go off down craner !

Absolute proper job done there, the stuff they make for the drag cars is a real work of art, & on a far lower level- they've just modded an existing cage for me & welded in a harness bar.
