Bedford track evenings - some input please
Discussion
Following the success of our Porsche biased track evenings on the Bedford Gt circuit, we are looking at organising more of the same for this year. Can you guys give me some indication of your potential interest for 2006, ie; how many events that you would like to attend.
Thanks
Steve
Thanks

Would a 924s be allowed on, or could I bring the Cerbera? (The latter's quiet enough unless the limit's gone below 96dB)
Where are these publicised if/when they go ahead?

I'd definitely come along to at least one just to learn as much as possible from the titanic crew.
after doing a few passenger laps in steve's car i learnt
a)his car was really well set up
b)he was a better driver than me
i learnt all this whilst spinning out of control on the pit lane straight just before crossing the grass, gravel and hitting the barrier.

Noise !
Very unfair for 911`s with rear engines. Even without drainpipe exhausts you hold your breath each time the noise man commeth...... only to have blood come from your ears as the Ferrari that sailed through testing wails past a full chat !

To be fair, Bedford aren't that religious about the static test, they will still let you out if you fail by a reasonable amount. If you trigger the drive by twice though, then its pretty much game over.
At least thats what I've been told. My RS with standard exhaust has no problems there at all, although other cars (e.g. CSL) with standard exhaust were tripping one problematic metre quite frequently due to the cold.

Any idea what the projected cost is going to be? Bedford has an unprecedented number of events this year so a lot of competition.

Normal events at Bedford generally means sharing the circuit with approximately 100 other drivers of varying abilities in cars of varying performance. It is a good circuit to push yourself and your car to repective abilities but not if there are 100 other cars out there at the same time. Only 30 - 35 drivers are allowed on our evenings so things are much less frantic out there. Most drivers are like minded and there is always a fantasic atmosphere.
So there is a lot of difference between a 'normal' Bedford day and one of our evenings.

Hi All,
Regarding the noise at Bedford, i believe the limit is 101dB?
I have a PSE on my 996 without the switch, i.e. always on. This is fine normally ( i never want to turn it off )but i am worried by Bedford's limits.
Does anybody have any experience of running with a PSE at Bedford, or know of anywhere on the net that gives details of how to temporarily close the valves?
thanks in advance...

I would like to plug Steve's and Sean's evening events at Bedford. They run from 5-8 pm in the summer months, so basically still light, although I used my dipped beam for the last half hour last time not to light the road, but to make my car more visible to others. Briefing occurs before 5 pm so track time isn't wasted.
Steve is a very good driver......and passenger. I think I have spun my car at least 3 times with him in as a passenger instructing me at Bedford.
Bedford is one hell of a long way for me to go and I'm not sure if I will drive all the way down from the Toon this summer. The evenings are great though if you don't live too far away.
Edited to get the times right!

I had a PSE exhaust on my MK1 GT3 it was never a problem at Bedford, with the Manthey K400 engine & exhaust upgrade it is if you don't know where the noise meters are...........!!!!!!
Steve I'll be at every one as usual,,,,,,,
