well i read the reviews,so went and bought the snooper s5(reasonably priced, decent performance said the review)but im not impressed. yes it does pick up cameras etc,but it also picks up invisible signals.ie no buildings,no houses,no cameras but yet it bleeps like crazy.

I've never been impressed with radar detectors - I think they are pretty useless on the whole with too many false warnings - and not enough warning when they are needed.

I have a Bel Europa. Each radar band is programmable so for instance X band can be turned off. IIRC this is the one that gives most falses from petrol stations and supermarket doors.

i have a snooper s5 and am well happy with it. Has picked up cameras, hand held radars and I have been lasered once. It only picks up roadside cafes/petrol stations, but you watch these anyway as police are likely to set up here.

As for false signals, I was told that radar waves can travel a fair distance and bounce off items therefore creating false signals.

Anyway, I find it a very useful 'accident hot spot locator'.
