I could never understand what the big deal was with these cars? German Cars= yawn,boring.................

That was until I decided to buy a 530d sport with all the M-teck "bits" with a manual box, 2001, 80k on the clock.............well...........blimey!!
What a fantastic bit of kit, only a few weeks into ownership and I have to say my next everyday car is going to be another when it,s time to change.
The "special" weekend driver does have a tad more power but for 40-80mph over taking, handling in wet/dry,ride ,economy, comfort and build quality the BMW is truely fantastic.I had no idea of what I had bought until a few hundred miles of driving this beast were under my belt...it,s a belter and holds it,s head up well when compaired to the Venom! Yep........got to say it (and i never thought i would) I LOVE BEEMERS!
Great to be on board with you guys!........now must get myself off to "Superchips" soon to put the finishing touch to a fab car.Infact once that is done I plan to take both the 530d and Venom to a local track and time both cars back to back ....I think it will be a very close call ! Will let you know the results later in the year if anyone is intersted?
Cheers,Tom

Good post mate.
Cars like the 330d and 535d are under-rated by the chav racers. No probs.

Hi Guys,

What is the difference between the 530D and the 530D sport? Apart from the name?

Cheers E

I agree with you Venon, had my 530d sport since July 2005 and NEVER tire of driving it. In my opinion it has everything a car needs (this is my first BMW as well)

Would love to try an "M" some day, but in many ways I kinda like having such a great overtaking/cruising tool that is great on fuel. In this day an age of speed camaras on every corner having the overtaking poke is better than top speeds and fast traffic light starts in my book. Our Venom is almost home (lands on the 10th I,m told) from N.Zealand and out there the traffic cop problem was so bad I can,t be bothered to drive it, and that,s saying something...coz i LOVE IT to bits....mind you it,s going to have to fight for it,s place in the garage from now on! and on the U.K roads the Beemer seems to make more sense, but then again most other 2 door coupe do compaired to it!!
As said......proud to be a 530d owner!

I was of the same opinion originally, "BMW.....what's all the fuss about?". Then I got to drive (and be driven in) a friend's E39 M5. Damn fine piece of kit, from that point on I knew! Comfort, power, control...all there in huge slices.

Consequently, one of those is on the shortlist for my replacement car this year. Starting to have impure thoughts about E46 M3s too.

Wholeheartedly agree. I've got the lttle brother the 320d, and even that really is cake and eat it. 150 bhp with 250 lb/ft. Averages 46 mpg. It's got the M-suspecnsion so it really is a superb every day hack. Done 50K in under 2 years, only expenditure has been 2 rear tyres!

Felt the same way ... then I got my E30 M3. Once you've driven a BM then you are hooked for life.

I totally agree! I always thought 'soul-less German crap'...then I drove a 520i...and I thought 'My god, thats nearly worse than the Punto that resides at the bottom of my list of worst cars ever driven'.

...then I drove the 328i
