So I need to be different.

At work people put colours on there tools so no one can pinch them etc. Particularly when it comes to the bosses. Blue, red, yellow, brown, black, white, yellow/green, green, pink, orange are all taken, so I want to use TVR Purple, one because no one else uses purple and two because every time I go into my box I will be reminded of what all this shit is for

Can anyone give me the colour code for it or any other name it goes under

Cheers
Stuart!

I don't think theres such a thing as TVR Purple. When you buy a new TVR you can have any colour you want..

My prevous Chimaera was Amaranth purple (Rover Colour). My Grff is Imperial Blue. A friend has the Lamborghini purple on his Tuscan.

Your right that Paraidise purple is also a great colour and used on TVR's.

Not sure what the Speed 12 purple was though???

TVR Purple is the colour that the Speed 12 was painted. I also believe that said colour is used on the Sprint cover, (but without one at hand I can't remember) and the TVR Signs in the Factory. Also used on brochures, merchandise etc.

Cheers Chris. Is it a TVR 'Special' ie, has to be purchased from Dealer/Independant/Factory or is it commercially available?

The 'TVR purple' as used on rocker covers for 5.0 engines for a few years is actually stove enamel and therefore quite different from what you might spray on a car body. Is that the colour you wanted?

Not too sure, I have got touch-up's from a dealer + independant - Towerview. I see you aren't local but you could call Towerview on 0208 4526922 and ask for Dave, he may have some in stock that he could send you and it will be cheaper than a dealer or he could tell you if it is commercially available, I'm sure it must be. Give him a call and see, he's a nice helpful bloke, if you mention Chris with the purple Chimaera he will know exactly what colour you mean.

As an interesting aside, the base coat is bright green with the purple sprayed on top, it looks gorgeous so must work!

The official name for the TVR colour is Pantone Violet.

Not sure if thats spelt right but that was the name given to the colour by Ben Samuelson, when asked.

If it is Pantone Violet then you can get it with the following process mixes:

Red : 103
Green : 7
Blue : 165

or

Cyan :94
Magenta : 91
Yellow : 0
Black : 0

Must say it looks right to me!

Aha, now we appear to be getting somewhere! My Intention was to get a sample of the colour, take it to the local Crown Decorators Centre, and get them to make up a small tin for me. But I don't any of you Purplr Tiv owners would be too impressed if I took a Hacksaw to your front wing.

However, with a Proper name and mixing guidelines, I can work with that!

Cheers Guys, I owe you a pint

Mmm, if only paint worked like that! If it's rocker-cover purple you still want, I shall be interested to see how you do it...
