Business bank account - HSBC?
Discussion
Not a good time to be asking me!
I have just been asked to supply a personal guarantee to increase my business credit card limit over £3000.00. I have and always had a sizable credit balance on my current account.
If anyone has business credit card and banking recommendations I am currently looking!
The only thing that HSBC has done in the last 10 years of "service" is to ring me up monthly to sell various assurances, write to me annually to tell me that my "personal" account manager has changed again and taught me that most of the people who live in Madras are really called "Sue" and "Dave".
Edited to add they all have Indian call centres to certain functions despite what they tell you.

I use their 'online' buisness service and find it very good. In a nutshell i can pay suppliers online, move money between current and BMM account online and i dont have to speak to call centres.
Their buisness banking charges are also negotiable if you do the majority of your stuff online.
Consequently i never have to speak to India and my buisness bank manager is available on a direct line to the local branch.
Highly recommended.

I use lloyds for business banking. The call centre is in Wales and is always very efficient. They are the first port of call when calling your Business Manager.
The Business Manager is not always the easiest person in the world to get hold of, but when I need him he has always been there for me and has always supported the business.

For the last two yeawrs I have been far from impressed with the HSBC. I will not be banking with them for much longer and I will never use them again.
(How's that for brutal honesty?)
I don't know if it's the staff or corporate policy, but as far as I'm concerned, someone else can have my banking charges.

I think Lloyds are currently running 2 years free business banking. I am certain I saw that on a poster in the branch on Monday.
The deal I am on is a discounted for years 2 and 3, Free in Year 1.
Ahh cool, my other half is on the same deal as you and I just assumed that would be the same now. I'm still waiting to see the business advisor!
Just an addendum: when I really fell out with my bank a couple of weeks ago I asked the call centre op. to have a member of staff from my branch call me as soon as possible (she couldn't get anyone at the branch to answer a phone either when I asked to be put through). I left my mobile number as a contact.
Now ... here's the bit where I'm at fault - new mobile handset and although I have call waiting I hadn't set a tone to go off when there was a second incoming call. Anyway, I missed the return call some three hours later.
The message I picked up said, 'Mr. ****, this is the HSBC at **** returning your call. My colleague says that you wanted to get in contact with us. I'm afraid that's not possible - we're not allowed to give out branch telephone numbers. If you have anything else we can help you with, please telephone our call centre'.
Hmmmmm.
How about I don't bother and just take my business elsewhere?

If you do need to go elsewhere, try giving Cater Allen Private Bank a call (0800 092 3300). I've had no problems at all with them over the last two years, they've always been very good. The only drawback is no branches and no online service.........yeah, I know what you're thinking, but they're that efficient on the phone I've not missed either of the other dealing methods.
