What’s your favourite car ad on TV at the moment? There’s a few goodies but the Audi one does it for me, think it’s the music and getting a rush from seeing the rally driver stuff at the start. NOT that I am favouring any particular brand or anything

I wish, one day eh.. doesnt help the importers (openwheelracers oe whoever) are just down the road...)

a 300 would be overkill wouldnt it... more likely to be a nice Eunos roadster tho..

I used to like the Evo advert in magazines... the "scary", "Real scary" ones with the Evo and then the evo painted up in NZPolice colours. Always used to be a giggle.

Of course I'm biased but I like Roger's Lotuscars NZ ads they screen on prime during topgear.... because it features Lotuses and Nobles going fast on NZ roads!!!!

No car ads really take me at the moment... they're all pretty anonymous.

I like the current Falcon ad with the kid playing with his Scalextric. Why do I like it? Because Ford obviously didn't think it through properly. There's a wee lad really enjoying himself playing with all these hairy-arsed cars on his track and then tries the Falcon - it's pants because it's too safe!

That's exactly how I feel about most modern cars - fast, efficient and pretty boring unless you're just trying to get from A to B!

My favorite ad on TV at the moment isn't supposed to be funny. It's one of those Pharmacy adverts where they tell you about the latest creams and potions. The current one advertises a de-worming tablet during which they list the symptoms of a worm infection, the primary one being an itchy bottom. Then they show you the special offer pack which includes a free torch!!!! Priceless!

Yip funny you should say that, my similar comments were that it dosent fall off the road like its competition because it doesnt go fast enough !!

I'm with you Kylie, it's great to see the quattros doing their thing on the loose stuff.
The old auto union footage is cool too.

My favourite ad is still the one that eventually got banned that played in the late 70's-before some of you were born, involving driving a mini much too fast over quaint little hump-back bridges (Big air!), somewhere in France.

I went to an event today and they played the old (late 80s) Toyota ad and that's very nice too, but not for the cars;- more the classy production and scenery. Saatchi I guess?

You mean you all don’t think the Suzuki Swift advert with the footballer is the best?

Any one noticed the discrepancy in the falcon advert when it says “now available with traction control” proceeded by a statement under the screen saying “traction control not yet available on NZ models”.

I quite liked the VW Golf where the child gets dragged across the floor and out the door by the car.

What about the worst ads. Theres the Toyota ad where they talk to the Indian family in Manukau and the guy blinged his mothers car. Bad taste IMO

What about that sad bint banging-on about her Celica GT4? It makes me cringe every time I see it.

When it's on next time, check out the rest of the family - they can probably trace back their heritage for generations without the introduction of a single new gene!

BUT BUT BUT BUT "It's got the beginnings of an anti-lag system" .......

I'm wondering that if this is a metaphor for "Its engine management computer is so sh1t that it overfuels grossly on the overrun"

Or maybe it means a differential pressure-sustaining bleed-valve in parallel with the waste-gate that will reduce the volume flowrate while attempting to maintain pressure for the first ½ second while the clutch is engaged and the engine is held above 4,000 rpm . . .

Having said that it didn't look like a Group A under the bonnet to me.

yeah my thought on that was that it doesnt actually let you drive the car, which is really kinda dumb if they're using it to try and sell XR6 and XR8's, which they like to think are sportscars.
