Starlet Turbo, Daihatsu Charade GTti... Both cost pennies to insure and tax and both are a hell of a lot more fun that the complete dog of a car that is the 100Nx

Mk1 MR2
CRX
Old Corolla GTI

Probably. Avoiding Starlets and Charades as the import factor really bumps the cost.

The Charades weren't all imports, loads of UK cars about. Starlets are relatively cheap for parts and insurance, most of the parts come from other models in the toyota lineup, brakes are from the corolla for example. Fensport also stock pretty much everything you need for them.

depends what you want out of a car to be honest...

i mean, as has been said, for a sports car - cant beat the Mk1 MR2 for cheap fun.

want luxury - go for the honda legend, if you can find one

You could have some fun in a 100nx targa top
You could do a lot worse than a mid '90's prelude from under £1k ,imo.
Old corrola gti
Early '90's Nissan Micras, still some tidy , 'garaged & lo-miler old geezer owner' examples around. Great little cars to throw about & will take a fair hammering.

MX5s are dirt cheap these days, reliable and 100 times better to drive than a 100NX, plus you can get the roof down.

I would go for an Evo6, then re-mortgage just to run it for a year

Oh I see, was aiming at VERY cheap cars. Can you pick up a '5 for a few hundred quid? If so, go with it!.

Gen 1 or Gen 2 N/A RX7!

you can pick up a good FC (gen 2) N/A for about £900 and without the turbo they are not too bad on fuel and the engines last too!

the 1st gen is the best bet but they are prone to rust and a clean tidy one would be about £1k these days - great fun to drive though
