Good "arrive and drive" packages?
Discussion
Can anyone reccomend any good arrive and drive packages that they've seen out there? Nothing silly in value or too posh, I just want to have some fun in a reasonably competitive car.
I have a National B license, though could upgrade to a Nat A if necessary.
I just fancy getting some experience in a few different and interesting cars, and it'll prove worthwhile research if I move on to race something else in the future.

go to www.mtmotorsport.co.uk for the option of a drive in the 750mc Hot Hatch series or Kit Car Champs.
Have you thought about Britcar Production S1???
Obviously your entry and hire fees are more, but you get so much more tracktime, usually well over 1hr qualifying, and I think the shortest race is 110mins, the longest 1-day race is 4 hours, and then of course you have the 24hr at Silverstone.
Don't discount it - on a £££'s per track time/mile basis it is probably the most economical racing in the UK, except maybe the 2CV 24hrs at Snetterton - I believe seats are available for about £1500. In a team of 4 drivers that means you'll get 6 hours racing for £1500 which ain't too bad!

I already race a full race spec Metro so was really after something a bit different to that, and a bit of a step up. I'm thinking some sort of race prepped sports car, Radicals, Caterhams etc. Thanks though.

How about some VLN at the 'ring?
VLN as in Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring? (I prefer VLN myself, less of a mouthful).
I'd certainly be up for that, depending on the budget of course as I have no sponsorship. Bear in mind that my experience amounts to five years in Metros and track days in Caterhams on UK circuits!! A test in the M3 would interest me anyway actually - paid for of course. Send me a mail via my profile if you're serious and wish to discuss.
Pleanty of people arriving and driving Ginettas too. Drop Martin Phaff a line - martin@ginettacars.com - and he will give you a list.
Not too sure on costs - but entry is £500 per weekend, on top of that there will be a couple of hundred pounds in fuel and tyres, plus the rental and team costs - so possibly £2k per weekend (a guess - but I'd be surprised if I was too far out).

Thanks. I will look into that.
I don't know how the British racing license is structured, but...
Formula Palmer Audi looks like a competitive upper-junior formula with arrive-and-drive offering: www.formula-palmer-audi.com/
Expensive, of course, but if you're into a serious racing career, it might be a good investment.

I would also suggest the Ginetta. Full grids and mixed abilities so, regardless of how experienced you are, you are guaranteed some fun racing.
Don't the MG Mayflower Cup (or whatever it's called these days) do an arrive and drive?
The VW Cup?
Yes, the MG Trophy do arrive and drive, but only in the ZRs, and I'm not spending £1,500 to race a FWD saloon!
The Ginettas look great I may in fact buy one to race when I have the spare cash.
How about caterhams!
Message me and i can out you in contact with my boss.
Were the Uks largest caterham racing team.
Could probably drive a round of an endurance race at say spa, estoril for about 1.5k for each driver.
Or maybe a round of roadsports, would be reasonably cheap!
I may even be one the running your car!
