...what would you do now.

The first race showed that the car was better but still not really a natural championship winner.

Your new team mate is quick but erratic and fighting to stay in a team that could be all change next year. Nothing to be gained by beating him, much to be lost by being beaten. His position is the opposite.

The front and rear wings will have to be redesigned, manufactured and tested to avoid protest from other teams. In the mean time you will be running a sub-optimal set-up.

The super-team of old are going their seperate ways at the end of the year.

Having achieved the 'most poles' record you now hold every significant record in F1.

Nobody will like you whatever you do.

So what would you do? a)Quit at the end of the year. b)Go to a new team at the end of the year and start again. c) Start your own team next year / the year after. d) Call it a day and quit now. e) Do a Hill style 'will he, wont he' for the rest of the year and then pack it in. f) None of the above.

Answers on a Postcard to: Dilemma for an over achivieving box-head competition, Scuderia Ferrari, Via Ascari, Maranello. Or here if it is easier.

Depends how good the car is over the next few races - if he gets to enjoy a good fight I doubt winning another championship will matter, he relishes the battle.

However, if Ferrari get Raikkonen, then all-new line up or not Rossi is now a better draw for them - if he picks up speed then he's successful, popular, hungry and also Italian. Would they really need Michael?

Of course, there's always the possibility of a Newey-Red Bull but I can't see him wanting that unless there's a certainty it'll be any good...

Much as though I don't like some of the things he has done the chap is a racer and when he is on form he is f**king quick. I hope he sticks about for a while yet.

I actually think he would relish the challenge of being in the team with someone with a point to prove (Kimi). I doubt he will start his own team, although I could see if VW decided to buy into the sport that he might take some sort of figurehead (or what that spoonhead) role.
Nor do I suspect he will win the championship this year, or again.

Quit at the end off the year.
Then maybe become a test driver for ferrari, still in the car but not racing.

because you got all the money you will need, so why carry on racing?

Possibly because it's not about the money (any more) but that he loves racing.
